Good Morning. It's Friday 17th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

Derby County (finally) charged for breaking FFP rules

Just when Derby must have thought they had managed to manipulate and cheat their fellow 23 Championship Clubs, the EFL swoop on the Rams issuing the following statement

“Following a review of Derby County’s Profitability and Sustainability submissions, the EFL has charged the Club for recording losses in excess of the permitted amounts provided for in EFL regulations for the three-year period ending 30 June 2018.

You can imagine what kind of devastating impact the news would have on both owners, staff and players alike. It's enough for Wayne Rooney's hair to fall out (again)!

Not only did Derby owner Mel Morris sell Pride Park, and have a third party but it back again, but it was bought back for 80m, twice the value!!!

Perhaps their (and our) sponsors 32 Red will help them out? They are allegedly funding most of Wayne Rooney's wages (1.5m).

This news comes exactly one year on from Spygate, when Derby alleged that a Leeds spy had been arrested for breaking into their ground, hiding in the bushes with binoculars and a pair of pliers. To say this report was loosely based on a true story is as hard to believe as a Prince Andrew impact statement!

Another target slips the net as Leeds look to land Bowen

The Sun are reporting that Leeds were lining up a move for Hull’s Jarrod Bowen.

The 23yo has racked up 16 goals in the Championship this season, just two less than top scorers Ollie Watkins and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

A £3m loan fee, with a £12m promotion clause is thought to be on the table.

Despite The Sun's article, North of England Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton has rubbished the speculation saying 'I’m told that Leeds are not in for Hull forward Jarrod Bowen, despite reports linking him with a move to Elland Road'.

This news comes 24 hours after confirmation that the Whites had missed out on their latest target Andy King.

The 31yo has penned a deal with neighbours Huddersfield Town.

    Morning all....

One day in January, I’d like to log into the breakfast debate and discuss our new first team signing, I was sure it would happen before the midway point, I should have known better.

I remember last weekend all the talk of how we’d reveal our new Man City wonder kid within the next 48 hours, end of the week arrives and still now news.

At this present moment in time, we are weaker now than when the window opened, I wonder how many other top 6 teams can say that, none is my guess but only a guess ;)

Morning all. Just hope all these point deductions are dished out well before end of season rather than wait till last couple of games to see if they're going to have any impact

With this corrupt bent FA you must be joking Eire, they will do what is good for Derby, just like the car racing drunken players got away with murder earlier this season.
I hope they get hammered like they deserve along with Wendies, let’s have a level playing field here but no chance of that.

What's the betting they've only announced this because of outside pressure, Steve Gibson, they'll do their half hearted investigation and find they have no charge to answer, getting away scott free.

That’s my suspicion too. It’s already taken them a half season to charge them and this was all flagged months ago

I feel the same, I would have hoped we would have signed 1 player by now but I get feeling there's a slight sense of delusion among the fan base. The 'why would they want to go to another club' mentality. If you look at the Eddie situation I can imagine we would want is gonna look at what happened since the close of the window and think '**** that' I don't wanna play back up to Bamford even if I do/am better than him.

The Freeman thing makes me laugh as well. Why would he drop down when Sheff UTD are 6th in the Prem. I'd rather stay at Sheff UTD knowing I can be in the Prem next season compared to dropping down a division and possibly not getting promoted.

    Hello All

    First time post, just joined..

I've been reading this forum for quite some time now, so thought I would finally join in the discussions about our beloved Leeds United, or should I say the trials and tribulations of being a Leeds fan! I've been a Leeds fan since I was old enough to watch football, some 35+ years ago! Followed then through ups and (mainly downs) since. I've been season a ticket holder, then stopped due to my location.

I really do hope we do get a striker in before the end of the transfer window, and also get back to winning ways starting tomorrow against QPR. We don't want to have a repeat of last year, and fall at the final hurdle again.. We deserve better, but we do not 'have the right' to get back in the Premier League, that is earned.

Like Ristac said, I want to read the breakfast debate and see some good news, i.e. a key signing that isnt a youth player or a prospect for the future that can actually make a difference to the team and help us get promoted.. My fingers are crossed!

Good Afternoon from a wet Bardsey
With 2 weeks before deadline we are no nearer getting our first signing .This is just the same scenario as last year.I think its about time AR was truthful with us and simply said I am skint !
Bowen has been mentioned we have as much chance of signing him as flying to the moon
Adams and Gray will not becoming so we wasted 2 weeks doing nothing
even this lad from City is no nearer signing
Now we read about Goldstone who we tried to sign when he was at Shrewsbury! Since then he almost died so I think he would be someone with his degree of sicknotes appeal to us
Gayle is injured so why waste time lets get Shackleton back and sort out Costa
    Finally welopme to Mari

It's frustrating to say the least. If the numpty's couldn't see Eddie was leaving this month and looked forward to finding somebody for week one of this window then there's something wrong. From the interview with Sky back in November I think, it was obvious Eddie was going back to North London this month. We're chasing our own arses to pick up anybody we can upfront and with the amount of players we're linked with, we're looking desperate now and club won't take pitty on us.

We could have done some of our business before the window especially at CB. No one turn around and say we couldn't because we've seen where the problems have laid since the Jansson sales. We should take a leaf from Liverpool's book and start signing in the back end of December so they're in for the FA cup on the first weekend of January

I should have warned you of a few of the posters. Jammy bets against his own team, Eire is depression personified, OLOF/Davy/Lee cross dress, WJ wears a skirt, Elland grooms newbies, WC/Leeds 60 are the experienced posters, Ristac bans everyone, I'm apparently a short arsed, potato munching, alcoholic, paddy/mick. <party>
