The problem for young people today is that they need a whacking deposit. 35 year deals are great for people like me who are using them to make sure my kids will be home owners.
My mortgage repayment is £0.90p an month. Didn't pay it all off so that if we ever needed finance we could just draw a bit from the mortgage at a decent rate. I'd hate to be young these days trying to get on the property ladder. Not sure how my 16yr old son is gonna manage when he gets kicked out on his 18th birthday
I’m investing in property so I can sort them out when the time comes. Their generation are going to really struggle to buy property (down South at least).
I don't pretend to know anything about the property market, but to me it seems like house prices have stalled over the last 12 months. I don't see the same sort of gains that I had over the previous 4 years (so over 5 years).
I don't take much notice now mate, i don't intend to buy again. I done my bit years ago, working endless hours (which you are not allowed to do now) in order to get a foothold. Got lucky with all 4. Then sold up, and spunked the lot on an extended holiday, well 5 years was quite extended
It’s stagnant. I think there will be a little bubble in the next 6 months while people think Brexit is “done” then there will be another lull once people realise nothing’s getting done for years. Overall I think it’s a good time to buy if the seller is dead or distressed.
The South is suffering because there’s no value and private investors are retreating. RP’s are throwing up 60% of the new build housing market with house prices stacking up well in certain northern areas.
Yes and yes. had had enough. 18 years in agency. Couldn’t see myself doing another 20. So have been retraining for the last year or so.
Not so in London. The weak pound has supported and encouraged overseas investors, who have kept the market near its highs.
