Yeah, but those who were staunch advocates of Ralph also tended to defend him by to accusing the players for being ****. So do they owe everyone an apology, too? I think in general we all overreacted but that’s what supporters tend to do. In the end, it is hard to blame anyone who was worried about our survival chances and thought we were awful. We were exceedingly awful, and we could easily have let that game get to us. It was all very real. I don’t know why we were so bad then, and now so good. But saying it is all Ralph’s doing now is no different than pinning all the blame on him before. We were awful at everything from tactics to execution, and now suddenly we are very good. Same team, same manager. Why? Let’s just enjoy the ride.
Let's not overlook what Shane Long put into this win. He was amazing today and I take my hat off to him. What a great unselfish attitude he has. He is so dogged and determined and never stops running for others. Probably the most unselfish player up front we have ever had. He has to deserve a new contract in the summer. He is the perfect foil for Danny Ings and we will miss him badly if he isn't here next season. Che Adams looks like he will be the long term replacement for Shane Long and if he can provide anywhere near the service for Danny that Shane does he will be invaluable. I keep reminding myself that it isn't all about whether Che can score goals, because he makes them as well and I do think he will become a really important part of the team Ralph is building.
I want to hate him (which I still do) but that's a humble comment. Although he could have showed some more ambition
It's also very noticeable that yet another manager has come to the conclusion that we're a better team with Shane in the side.
Shane needs to work hard and feed a partner up front and Gabbi could get a goal out of nothing on his own. But you're right it, he was completely ineffectual with Pellegrino's style of lobbing the ball in from deep, he needed service on the ground like through balls and balls into his feet.
I was critical of him and I stand by what I said at the time. We were shockingly bad in the first half of the season. Don’t see what’s wrong with that. Ralph is a big boy; I’m sure he can handle being criticised. In my favour I always defended the squad when others were saying they weren’t good enough. If I think any player or manager underperforms in the future I will call them out. Apologies in advance!
