Chuffed, Im not saying we have turned the corner yet, but I would love it, absolutely love it if Parky turned it round just to give all the Parky Outers (after one game) the Vs up. The amount of stick he's got on forums is a bit sad, mind, after his start with us is maybe understandable. I had an autograph book, maybe '62 ish, my dad signed it, and added 'patience is a virtue'.. He was not a patient man...... but thinking about it he probably realised this hence his comments Maybe some of us should take note of this! Haway the ****ing lads!!
We were good today but they were f*cking abysmal. Not knocking the mighty SAFC but if they are top the only thing we have to fear in this league. is ourselves. Go go Parky. Fitness levels markedly better, confidence, camaraderie and I do believe Barcelona will ask for the video of that 2nd goal. Great all round performance and I think I would struggle to name one man of the match.
Your post started off great but I never want to see Will Grigg again and Charlie Wyke was busy heading away Wycombe's corner kicks down the stretch.
McNulty coming on. Strange. Does that mean we are keeping him or was PP putting him in the shop window for all of 10 mins?
It’s amazing how some of our fans are saying “we’re not forgetting the first 12 cos of the last few” bet they’d forget the last few if we lose the next one you can see how he wants us to play. It’s dynamic and he’s been responsible fir 3 of the best performances I’ve seen in years!! There’s nothing to say we won’t keep it up. Players look happy and confident. Despite playing large parts of our last 5 games against 12 men!!
Everything absolutely EVERTHING I was waiting for arrived today. A good, nay an excellent win for me says the corner has been turned. A hard faught win, a thouroughly deserved win with a difficult choice for MoM - but I will stick my neck out and say:- despite little help from the ref Wyke was nothing short of tremendous in a first rate team performance over 90+ minutes. KTF
I want to see a replay of the build up play for the second goal. It looked class on first view in the stadium.
Roker Report player ratings Jon McLaughlin: 8/10 Did well in tricky conditions, always provided an option for the defenders and his distribution was pretty good, too. Produced a couple of excellent saves in the final ten to keep his clean sheet. Jordan Willis: 9/10 Some fantastic overlapping runs from the central defender, and some brilliant crossing. Provided the ball for Hume to bag his first Sunderland goal, and was a constant thorn in Wycombe’s side. Defensively very sound, too. Alim Ozturk: 8/10 His usual no-nonsense self, Ozturk was dependent throughout and rarely put a foot wrong. Tom Flanagan: 8/10 Had a great shot saved by the Wycombe keeper. Played some tidy football and defended well before being substituted at half time. Max Power: 9/10 Over the last several weeks Power’s presence on the pitch has been a crucial factor in Sunderland’s resurgence. Tidy with the ball, Power constantly barks orders around the pitch and Sunderland look an organised outfit under his leadership. His tackle in the 50th minute to set Gooch away on the break was absolutely brilliant. A proper captain’s performance. George Dobson: 8/10 His energy was tremendous yet again today as he harried and tackles all over the pitch. Played some nice football at times, too. Forming a really solid partnership with Power in the middle. Luke O’Nien: 8/10 O’Nien was relentless on the right flank. Did well defensively and showed some great technical ability to release players - another good performance. Denver Hume: 9/10 Linked well with Gooch to help set up Wyke’s opener, and then buried a lovely effort after some great play from Jordan Willis. His dribbling was excellent, and defensively he looked much more assured - he’s a real asset to this side. Chris Maguire: 10/10 At the centre of Sunderland’s neat interplay, Maguire was constantly looking to make things happen. Cool as a cucumber with his penalty, the ****housery that followed... top notch. Second half, Maguire kept up the great display and bagged a sensational free kick - class! Lynden Gooch: 10/10 You could throw so many superlatives at Gooch’s performances in recent weeks, but they wouldn’t be enough. His desire and technical ability has lifted the entire team - his role floating around the final third suits him down to a tee and allows him to make things happen. Great delivery for Wyke’s goal and unlucky not to get one himself. Charlie Wyke: 9/10 Another cracking performance, this time with a goal, too! Wyke was everywhere in attack, he held the ball up well, won the lion’s share of aerial battles, and was constantly forcing Wycombe onto the back foot. He missed a couple of decent opportunities, but Wycombe just couldn’t handle him. (SUB) Joel Lynch: 7/10 Replaced Tom Flanagan who took a knock to the shoulder, and gave a decent performance on the left side of Sunderland’s defence. A couple of rash challenges that weren’t necessary, but also provided a great covering block in the final few minutes. (SUB) Marc McNulty: N/A Came on for the last five minutes and afforded Gooch a standing ovation. Man of the Match Chris Maguire. https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...-the-lads-rated-after-they-walloped-chairboys
It's on here somewhere... @Oliver's Army https://www.not606.com/threads/sund...-january-ko-15-00.380771/page-6#post-13485121 Quest TV - starts at 9pm
There was some cracking "triangles" out wide in the build up to the goal, when Hume finished it off I didn't go mental tbh, I turned to my dad and said "what a ****ing goal that was". The short passing and how they got it out of tight situations then the final ball and finish was tremendous. (if my memory is correct that is!)
Football is 25% skill and endeavour and 75% confidence and finally the squad is full of confidence which makes a huge amount of difference, these lads are unrecognisable from six weeks ago. PP has shut a lot of fans up with our last two performances including me, so well done to all of them.
Well they can't ****ing have it. It's copyright Phil Parkinson and we want Messi if they want the video.
As a couple have alluded too, and this is 100% on coaching staff, we look so much fitter than 6 weeks ago, maybe that was part of McGeady issue, fitness training. I will repeat this, I’ve been saying all season ‘Willis is a bright spot’ and he is really up there ain’t he? I’d be absolutely confident he could play Championship.
