As a young kid I stood holding the railings next to the tunnel in the Enclosure (collected some fantastic autographs) my Dad stood further back with all the same old faces you would see year in year out. When I got to my teenage years I tried out the open end and the East end so I could hide from my Dad and puff on a ciggie before learning the errors of my ways and going back to the Enclosure where I stood then sat for many years, same position and still the same old faces....

When I come up now to AG if my brother is on holiday we have his expensive seats in 'W13', close to the pitch, the dug outs etc, otherwise my brother in law who's a coach in the academy sort's us out with tickets, mostly in 'S18', a great position when the ball is down that end but not so great if the action is down by the Atyeo stand... my son likes it as it's close to the 'singing crowd in 'S24 to 26'!
The last visit we sat in 'W4' in the upper Lansdown stand, I must say I thought the view was fantastic, you could see every part of the action, the position the players were in, the space where to play the ball, in a nutshell the perfect view.

Has anyone else sat up in the upper stand? Where is your favourite position and have you kept to the same area over the years with all the changes?

The view from W4 is amazing, I sat at the bottom of that tier, brilliant stuff, but you do feel disconnected from the atmosphere.

My place growing up was the old C or D block in the Dolman I think, though nothing will ever beat the East End :emoticon-0101-sadsm.

Believe it or not my start in my Ashton Gate life was the old cow shed which preceded the Dolman stand, then upgraded to the open end, just behind the goalmouth watching the great Bob Anderson in goal, spent the rest of my early and teen years in the East End, came marriage and fatherhood I moved to the Dolman, that was where I had the privelidge of watching our team and it's triumphs in the old Division one, I stayed there through the 80's, with the coming of age and a bit more cash I transferred to the Williams Stand up near the directors box, great view and comfortable, stayed there until the Williams was demolished, have been in S22 & S23 a few times in the Johnson era with my grandsons but I have now temporarily ceased attending.

So, all around the ground, seated and standing, all weathers, in all divisions, great times, great stadium, old and new and I would reccomend it to anyone, happy days.

Used to stand behind the goal half way up in the old East End back in the mid 80s. I loved the surge when we scored!

My Dad took me to both City and Rovers grounds in the late 50's on alternate weeks.
At AG we stood in the enclosure although Dad always bemoaned the view at Eastville was better.
In the late 60's ,70's and 80's I stood in the East End (when I wasn't playing) then later back in the enclosure.
The last few years, prior to LJ becoming HC, was spent in the Dolman.

I used to stand in the open end to the right of the goal about a third of the way back on the third step up you could see right down the pitch to the covered end, great if we were kicking to the open end in the second half! Most magic moment was when Alan Ball came up to the open end and applauded it as his team filed off at the halfway line it was a resounding defeat for us but each time they scored there was a bit of a "clap" no abuse one of the best games I can recall FOR ITS FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE there did not seem to be any animosity and think 99% of the crowd stayed to the end ….

    the 'open end'
What I remember when stood there when we sang 'drink up ye cider' the crowd would rush forward down the steps, so you had to be ready!

The view at Eastville from the top of the 'open end' (Muller Road) was mighty fine. It was a properly steeply banked terrace, complete with the view of the flower beds behind the goal !

My first visit to AG was a view of mounds of earth where the foundations were being dug for the Dolman Stand

I now sit in W14 near the front of the upper half - it's fun watch LJ's meltdowns at the 4th official!!

I first went in about '66 with a mate and his Dad. We always stood in the East End about where S20 now is. Remember the Liverpool game in '77 when there was 38,600 in the ground and being moved around by the crowd without actually moving my feet where it was so tight!!

Also recall the Cow Shed being down, but the terraces still being used before the Dolman was started. I saw a game against Cardiff where we lost 0-3; I was sitting on the wall at the very back of the Cow Shed area - great view, but pretty scary as well as there was a drop of what seemed about 20/25 feet behind me. No H&S in them far off days.

First game I saw in the Upper Stand (W4 I think) was the last game of the season a couple of years back when we lost 0-1 to Birmingham. I actually think that is probably the best view in the ground now; if the game is ****e at least you can admire the scenery across the city toward the Suspension Bridge!!

Oh my goodness and the photo of the old cow shed brought back some great memories from my youth. I used to stand on the terracing on the right of the shed in the photo and loved every minute. Thanks for the memory Wiz.

I sat in W6 by the press box when I took my daughter to the Leeds and QPR games this season, and it was a good view. Like most I have stood or sat,in all 4 sides of the ground over the years.

We might have been next to each other in the 80s RP - can you remember a chap there who used to smoke a curly pipe? Never knew who he was but he was always there - and I really liked the smell of his pipe when he fired it up!!!

Started in the open end, then a few years east end. Then majority in the Enclosure until, all seated then Dolman.
Been in Atyeo a few times but not many, and all round Dolman. Now been same seat /area in Dolman since. Said seat / Area due to slight relocation when Dolman modified.
Been in Lansdown stand but only corporate and also in one of the boxes.
Never been up in Lansdown top tier as wife scared of heights.

I was in the Lansdown top tier for the Man U game with Mrs R&W. What a night! We were right at the top next to the TV crew.
We got asked to leave the V-Shed Wetherspoon at 5am as they wanted to close - we had absolutely no idea it was so late because we were still buzzing from the game!!!
We had about 2 hours sleep in the Royal Hotel by the time we walked back there!!

I would say if you haven't sat in the upper Lansdown stand give it a try, I was really impressed even after walking all the way up!

I walked up the flight of stairs to the box, thought bollocks to that and caught the lift up and down after that. <laugh>

After she got rescued from top tier in Millenium stadium, she said she won’t go up even to the city top tier.
