Not according to a certain fanzine editor. Despite what was said at the press conference, Raging Rick knows that Bowyer is unhappy
He’s made a trademark comment that by going public on his contract Bowyer is confirming that he’s not happy with that and the transfers so far.
. Bowyer looks a very happy bunny. After working with no CEO, and signing freebies loanees and rejects at the last minute, he's now got a sensible, positive CEO to work with. It's unusual for any club which is up for sale to do well, whoever the owner, but Bowyer has done, and it must be a huge relief for him to be in this position.
Mr Chairman comes across as a rabbit caught in the headlights; not entirely comfortable in his position. I appreciate he is new to the role, but he is supposedly a very experienced businessman, therefore, why is he like a fish out of water? Assuming the matter of a 5 year contract is agreed for Bowyer, does that still hold should we be relegated, or is he going to be shown the door? In his favour, he is trying to engage with the fans, and to encourage people to come back to the games, and in that respect he is obviously way ahead of Roland. If indeed what he is saying regarding Taylor (that the door is till open) then that is encouraging, because l personally feel that Charlton is better with him in it; and if results go our way, then hopefully he will reconsider his position, and it looks as if he is staying at least until the end of the season in any event. Added to all this, Chairman would go up in my estimation if we could get Cullen in on a long term deal, added with some quality new players, and once we get the injured back then we can all, perhaps begin to breath slightly more easily and push on properly in the following season. Not convinced yet about our Chairman; but only time will tell if he is true to his word. It would also be good to hear from the man bankrolling it all. I understand that the idea being that he will attend a game in the very near future. In any event, what we have heard thus far is obviously far more encouraging than the previous regime
Lee's face when he's told the length of the contract. like when you fart and try not to laugh. great conference. hearing all the things i like - good contracts for key personnel, training ground being done up.
We still don't have a CEO but we now have an active Chairman (like Posh do) and a Director of Football in Gallen... although Gallen was always (in real life) a DoF rather than a Chief Scout
The most positive CAFC press conference I have ever seen. About 100 million times better in every respect than anything Katrien Meire ever attempted, even with her powerpoint laser back in the early days before we all got to learn how useless she really was. Matt Southall knows a bit about what he's talking about, unlike KM, who knows nothing about anything, except how to grin condescendingly. MASSIVE positive - 5 year contract offer for Lee Bowyer Great talk from Southall and LB about sustainable growth and getting fans back into the Valley. Couldn't ask for much more from a press conference. Surely it must boost the numbers going to the Valley on Saturday. Having said that, in my mind important questions remain unanswered. However, it looks like nobody is in the mood to ask those questions right now. That's understandable. The atmos is electric with positivity right now. In time those questions will be answered, probably by updates from Companies House. Looks like those of us who want to know will just have to be patient. In the meantime, UP THE ADDICKS! Our revitalisation is long, long overdue.
The honeymoon period will vanish if Taylor goes, all still possible regardless of all the smooth talk.
I spoke up for Taylor many times here. But if he has turned down £16K per week, then he's welcome to go in my view. I wouldn't even keep him around for the rest of the season. His heart won't be in it, and he will probably get rowdy on twatter again and wind up fans. Let him go, and get somebody else in.
Matt Southall spoke very well about the need for marquee signings, and Lee Bowyer used the example of when he played with Alan Shearer at Newcastle.
I'm not buying any talk about Bowyer being unhappy either. Just because he has been offered a 5 year deal, that doesn't mean he's going to just roll over and have his tummy tickled. Despite the positive line about wanting to be part of the journey, I expect LB to privately let ESI know exactly what he wants, and take a tough stand if needed - as he had to with the Belgian. There will be endless wailing and prophesying of doom if Bowyer stalls for a while before signing. But the World is unlikely to end. I expect Bowyer will sign when he's ready, and the will turn to
Rabbit in the headlights is a bit strong - I think he's done really well so far and obviously has best intentions. He's had a consortium together that just failed to buy Villa and he had his foot in the door right up to the last minute at Bolton so he has worked his knackers off to get a club - so must be passionate about it I actually quite like the bloke, but think he's taking too much on. He's the one talking to everybody at the moment (agents, Bowyer, other Chairmen, press, staff, upbeats etc etc etc) and probably trying a bit too hard to please everyone.
I've always said you're not Royalty TC..... there's red and while blood cells flowing through those veins .… you must be so proud that a member of your family has a box at the glorious Valley
And i will be in it on 4th April. I suspect half of your fanbase will be on another boycott by then BTW - I have been told that you will be getting another Aston Villa player next week - currently on loan at another Championship club but not getting many minutes on the pitch
