Thanks again,Brian. Great documentary.....and dear old Blackpool!
Took my wife there many years ago. As we drove to the beach, the wind was blowing sand back into town. An elderly man was actually pushing his lady from the rear to the beach, the wind was so strong. We were laughing so hard I nearly hit a tram!

….and I love the Ukelelee Ochestra of Great Britain. Devil's Gallop!!!!…..I can just see me and my old nan sitting b y the fire listening to Dick Barton,Special Agent.

My dad was a biker, from teenager to a couple of years before he died and loved all forms of bike racing. To stop him from getting up to no good, which had a pretty high likelihood, our mum used to make him take us along. So, from the age of about 5 or 6, we were going to watch speedway (Wembley Lions), scrambling/moto cross and GP/Superbike races.

By the time I was 8, I'd already been to the Isle of Man to watch the TT Races (he'd take us out of school to do it). As part of any such visit you HAVE TO go and watch the George Formby film 'No Limit' in a cinema in Douglas. On all subsequent visits we went too.

I've looked on youtube and there isn't a free full film, probably because TT obsessives will pay to watch it? Anyway, here's a couple of clips which gives you a flavour of the film...

    I've seen it before.
The money Formby earned (in relative terms) was colossal. His father was extremely well paid too as an entertainer. He portrayed himself as a working class lad, but he actually came from money. He was brought up in luxury.
    I do like his songs.
Firstly, the pace of them is great. He played that banjolele so fast.
    Secondly, the melodies were fantastic.
Thirdly, the lyrics were awesome. I don't think people understood that they were so risque.
He was a very clever performer - and probably Britain's first megastar of stage and screen.

News of a major fire at Koko in Camden (the old Camden Theatre building). Unfortunately it looks and sounds to have been pretty major.

It was undergoing renovation works, so I hope that they had their insurance appropriately sorted and that it will be rebuilt to its original splendour.

Good venue, though I haven't been there since 2015, I think.
Hopefully they'll get the restoration right, as it's a good size for gigs and such places are becoming increasingly rare.

I got told to **** off by the twat who wore the striped pyjamas in the boom town rats once, in the upstairs bar
When it was the Music Machine the stage was about 10 feet high and you suffered serious neck injuries watching near the front
Remember seeing Iggy Pop there , one of the highest energy concerts ever

Last time I went past it they were building a hotel at the rear and the pub next door was now part of the building so I assume that it will be completed

A mate of mine, who was a fan of Madness, saw Suggs back in the early '80's. He went over to him to say very nice things....only to be told, very curtly. to "**** off and leave me alone."

He was mortified and never really a fan again.

I tend not to approach celebrities very much at all. Recently, Mrs B got me to pose for a picture with Ed Tudor Pole after a gig. I look really ****ing non-plussed about the whole thing, although he was a good laugh and a very nice fella.

I was also told to " go away" in no uncertain terms by Annabella Lwin but that was a case of taking something that I thought was tic tacs and cans of special brew

Sad that has happened. Hopefully it will be restored and operational again.
But I don't feel it as much as the demolition of the Astoria, of if The 100 Club was to go.

I'm back at The 100 Club tonight and Saturday. It's such an iconic venue and meeting modern H&S hasn't destroyed its allure.

Okay, it's got a ****ing huge pillar on the floor, directly in front of the centre of the stage, which makes the old East Stand problem look like nothing, but.....I don't care. Mrs B and I love going there and as a real home to Punk Rock, I'm glad that we get plenty of opportunity.

My folks were Mods, and attended gigs there in the 60s.

As with Ronnie Scotts, it makes me happy that clubs which transcend
generations still exist (to offset feelings of occasional anger/harrumph
when walking down Charing Cross Rd and passing the sites of the Marquee
    and the Astoria) .
