We obviously should have signed Rondon, regardless of manager. Rondon has PL experience and is more than used to playing in teams like Brucie's (Pulis West Brom). Saw someone suggest Joelinton was signed as a Perez replacement, which would have made more sense and brought a lot less inspection of his goalscoring abilities. Question obviously is why didnt we sign an ACTUAL striker, but it's Mike Ashley so they've stuck the no.9 on him and exaggerated the real transfer fee. I think Joelinton's been ruined by the associated pressure now.
Well..... Rondon at WBA had a 1 in 5 goal to game ratio Perez at NUFC was 1 in 4 Joselu at Stoke was 1 in 5 People bang on about Rondon, but his 1 season with us was his best ever at the age he is. Under Rafa.
On reflection we should have kept Joselu too! In fairness this teams still set up for Rondon, all we do is cross in to the box all game. He's proven he can play in a Pulis team where even the striker spends as much time defending as attacking. I never said Rondon was amazing, but looking back at this summer we should have picked him over having Joelinton, Carroll and Gayle as strikers.
I think rondon was amazing... his performances were at times incredible... took.chances he had ... with head also.. perfect for us.
As soon as the Chinese megabucks came in he was never going to be our player whether we wanted him or not (to answer your question - if the option had been there, I would have signed him) - think he'd sorted this with Benitez a long time before the end of the season Need to get over this - Perez too - once the trigger on his release clause came in, he was gone
