No way we paid that for him. There’s a huge rabbit away with this transfer and it needs to be investigated. He’s not even worth £10m, and that’s a fact.
Horrible so far, but I think the way we play doesnt suit and now hes in a dark place.. he cant be this bad surely?
He's been having an extremely poor season and is miles away from being worth what we paid for him. The most frustrating part for me is that there are glimpses of promise - he does some nice link up play sometimes and has had games where he looks decent. But he also seems to lack a bit of fight which is worrying, and the reason why fans get on players backs. However, he did average a goal or assist every other game in the Bundesliga and is still young. I don't think he's a target man striker and that's what he is being asked to play as.
I think if we are relegated Newcastle are back to their level and we would enjoy things more. We simply aren't a premier league outfit in 2020. This isn't the 90s
Read earlier that someone claims the total deal was £40m, which amounted to a fee of around £18m, 6 year deal @ £60k pw (over £18m) and agent fees of around £3m or so. The club has never actually said they paid a £40m transfer fee for the player. Ashley referred to it but I think the fee is much nearer £18m and the fat overlord referred to the overall deal - which is something we often do. Plausible.
Totally different style of play when he played in Germany. We play hoof ball and he’s not a target man. Trying to play him in a role he can’t do is making him look rubbish. And he is rubbish in that role. Now his confidence is shattered and the fans are on his back which affects his ability to do the basics. The chance he had against Rochdale where he shifted it onto his left and placed the ball wide from 12 yards is simply a sign of someone who is totally lacking in confidence. The sum of it all now means that pound for pound he is simply the worst signing we have ever made.
He usually played right wing in Germany. I said a few weeks back, in England if you're 6ft 2 you're either a target man striker or a centre back. We can't see past that style of play.
Yep. And I very much doubt he was aware of what style we would be playing this season, he probably regrets his decision massively. Wouldn't be surprised if he tried to force a move soon.
what the journos are saying is that he wanted to be the number 9 somewhere and our ****head chief scout couldn’t see what a **** idea that would be. Joelinton far too slow to play wide and lacks discipline and attitude. He’s a wannabe Lukaku, but a really really bad version.
