I have a cousin who lives in New York. He told me that in the early matches, don’t know if it happens now, they were wanting a European type atmosphere so the tickets for the section behind one goal said something along the lines of “ The area you are purchasing a ticket for is for fans who want to passionately support the club. Do not complain if people are standing, shouting and being noisy as no action will be taken as you have been informed of this in advance”. That would be a good idea here. They also had some brilliant packages in the better seats and boxes where the ticket included unlimited food and drink. After a few incidents the authorities, who can be quite puritanical there in some ways, put a stop to that, it is now food and soft drinks.
RB Leipzig. In 2009 they took over a fifth division club and renamed it.A bit like someone taking over a smaller club in Hull and ploughing money in.
I know that's what they did, I'm suggesting what they did to the club's history, colours, and supporters was worse than the name change.
The one they did in Leipzig didn’t do much to the supporters as the team they took over got a handful of fans now they get tens of thousands. Same would happen in Hull if this had been Hall Road Rangers as was or another club and they reached the PL and were qualifying for Europe. Would get bigger crowds than City.
But, as I said, it wasn’t the case in Leipzig, the main club was this one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1._FC_Lokomotive_Leipzig In this case it was like them taking over Hall Road Rangers or East Hull FC or whatever and them becoming the more successful club in the city and City still being there. No doubt the same would happen, RB Hull would get the larger crowds after becoming more successful. Though if they took over City and ploughed a load of money in I wonder how many would actually be bothered. I would, as would 99% of people on here. But going back to the name change look how few voted on the matter. You got the impression a lot weren’t bothered what City were called as long as they played in the PL. The colours wouldn’t have mattered if the name didn’t to those people. Regarding Salzburg, that is different. What they did there was reprehensible.
No it was New York Metrostars for 12 years before that , it wasn't a new club. A lot of their fans weren't happy .
