I would argue. I’ve experienced a lot of paranormal happenings. I’m not saying DA was not acting, but I definitely believe. I’ve been on MH live too and spent a night in the old town in Edinburgh, known as the vaults, where there was definitely happenings there too.

No. You have just been lucky enough to avoid his programmes.

I'm aware of him, but like Derren Brown and similar acts, I've never watched any of their programmes as made up **** pretending to be real holds no interest to me.

Caught glimpses of them whilst browsing and channel hopping on a night when nothing was on, You can see why there are people who swallow every conspiracy theory going, from faked moon landings to shape shifting aliens being hidden in secret nuclear bunkers which are so secret their location is signposted, when you watched even a snippet of them.

Isn’t Darren Brown a magician? I don’t think he actually tries to con people. I believe he may have done some programmes actually outing the tricks people like Acorah use.

Indeed he is. He makes no claims of supernatural powers. He is an illusionist and magician who uses mind control amongst and suggestions amongst other things. A bit like a modern version of the brilliant David Berglas if you remember him on TV.

I don’t recall him. I’ve just read his Wiki Bio & he appears a decent, well respected chap. I may do a you tube search when I get some time (work tomo). The skill involved in manipulating people’s thought processes fascinates me.

I believe it was quite a while into his act before he started acknowledging it was illusion and tricks. At first it was very much touted as "real" including some of the more silly effects of the "hypnotism" he did on stage.

I just think people want to believe. Life and death don't make sense to a lot of people. There must be something more etc.

The only thing I've ever experienced were premonitions and that was years ago.

I'd just dream something really insignificant happened, something too boring to tell you on here, but nonetheless startling in its accuracy.

If only I could've had a way of controlling these things, I might have been able to predict the lottery numbers<laugh>

    It's all true that though.

Indeed he is. He makes no claims of supernatural powers. He is an illusionist who uses mind control to manipulate.
He never made any secret of it. He was the first magician to appear on TV in 1953. The fact it was broadcast from the magic circle showed that. I think the reason he did it was others were worried that acts they had done in theatres for years would no longer attract people once they had seen them on TV.
He once said that he could replicate anything Uri Geller did as it was merely tricks and offered a large wager to Geller that he couldn’t do any of his feats in controlled conditions that he oversaw. Geller never took him up on it.

I was talking about Derren Brown who was born in 1971. Who are you talking about?

I was talking about David Berglas who was the first one which I mentioned. You replied to Chesire Ben who was replying to my post about Berglas, saying he had looked up his wiki bio and said he seemed a well respected bloke.

As I said, I posted about .David Berglas, a very well known and respected person, Chesire Ben replied to me about
David Berglas than you replied to Ben, quoting his reference about looking up Berglas going on about .Derren Brown. You don’t seem to have been too clear about who you were replying to or who was being discussed. Derren Brown is a pale imitation of what Berglas was doing in the 1950s. Berglas, although you may have never heard of him, is that well known and admired by fellow magicians that there is one trick named the Berglas Effect which many magicians have replicated, including Derren Brown.whilst giving credit to him.
    Glad we cleared that up.
