All I can do now is keep an eye on the relevant Companies House pages, and keep an eye on other sources until there is definitive proof from somewhere that all of Roland Duchatelet's ties with Charlton Athletic in any form are severed. When I get that proof, I'll be as happy as any Charlton fan can be, and I'll look forward to our new future with untainted joy. Until I get that proof, I'm afraid I'm not willing to take it on trust.
I will do Elfs - just promised that in fact, on the other thread. I want this total removal of RD from our Club to be true as much as any Charlton fan ever wanted it. I hope it won't be long before the final proof is there for all of us to see. Then we can begin celebrating, wth all doubts cast aside.
A poster on Charlton Life has mentioned the LondonNewsonLine article was from the 29th November. He then went on to question why the last statement did not back this up. All very valid. @lardiman I hope we do not get stick IF Dushitelet still owns the The Valley/Sparrows Lane.
I hope nobody would be in a mood to shoot the messangers, but if it turned out to be true we would have much bigger problems than just some disgruntled fans having a pop. To be 100% clear, I don't want this to be true. I don't want RD to still own anything to do with our Club. And if it turned out that he did, I certainly would not begin crowing and saying "I told you so". I don't want to be right. I want to be totally wrong, and nothing more than a victim of paranoia. Being wrong about this will make me very happy indeed. As happy as all fellow Charlton fans who have already accepted that Roland is 100% gone. Please let it be so. Let us be totally free of him, and able to move on to a better future together.
Not long ago Chelsfield Allotments became a ltd co and as Maintenance Manager it meant I had to become a director and register with Companies House. It took a week or so before it went through, so I'm not concerned, especially since it's the time of year things move slowly.
I'm just hoping it will all be updated before next weekend. Even if there is no update, as long as no other evidence has emerged that Roland might still own the land, I'll consider my options when Saturday comes. I wouldn't really want this tiny doubt to keep me away from the Valley, especially if everyone else is in a celebration mood. It should be a really good atmos. Also I believe Saturday will be the day they list and remember all the Charlton people who've passed away in the last year. I don't really want to miss that. There is still time. No need to decide now.
This is from Rick Everitt. I’m in no doubt the purchase involves the land and that we’ll see evidence of that in due course. A few points though - the football company leases The Valley and Sparrows Lane from its sister company Charlton Athletic Holdings Limited, which owns the freehold. The rent is not significant as both are/have been owned by Baton. Holdings was set up to protect the freehold assets in the event of the football company going bust. All Baton does is replicate the previous structure when the plc existed. When the club was taken private it was still necessary to have an umbrella company to maintain the relationship between the subsidiaries. The recent issue of new shares in the football company is potentially disruptive to the above - if those shares are held outside Baton. I doubt if there are any funders to the training ground development who have to be consulted. Duchatelet decided not to take the substantial funding available in 2013/14 so that could do whatever he wanted rather than meet their requirements. CACT will have existing leases or sub leases with one or other of the subsidiaries, probably CAFC Ltd, which are unlikely to be affected. There is some historic external funding for artificial pitches for CACT but again the relationship is with the subsidiaries not the ultimate owner - and the obligation may or may not have been transferred to the rugby club land as that was the intention but the situation with that development isn’t clear to me at this point.
24 posts on the truly tedious CL takeover thread today so far. Of which ... Hayes has 3 Dutton has 2 Elf’s has 2 #justsaying
I very much hope RE is right on this point. Pretty sure even our Sheriff will be hoping Everitt has this one right
I am studiously avoiding the CL take-over thread. It would not be good for my nerves, or my health in general. Also, I am assuming that anything worthy of note that does appear on it will then be raised in other places (as with Mundell raising the Baton 2010 question on ITTV).
@Miketyson2007Junior have you been a naughty boy and been drinking? Your post at midnight suggests you have
