I don't believe an FPP takeover was never on the table and if that's what Donald is claiming then it makes me doubt everything he says. I'm not saying I think it's still going to happen just that I don't trust his word.
The only contradiction I can see is that in the last interview, he talked about them having made the decision to proceed this way. That conversation appears to have been after they discussed potential ways to do it and after they'd seen the books, but it could have been before that and they may have always had this in mind. We have to give him a bit of leeway with wording of stuff like that I guess, albeit why he couldn't have just told us all of this a while ago and nixed the idea of FPP being saviours I don't know. I suspect because he himself gained by proxy from their popularity for a while.
Honestly, at this point, I couldn't give a **** about the Americans. I'll still follow this club regardless. What I want is Donald gone in the least disruptive way possible and someone to come in with a plan/know how to get us back into the Championship. I don't care if we don't have millions to spend. I actually like the idea of the club being sustainable, just not in the way Donald has delivered it. I want in owner who has the following priorities. 1) Get us back into the Championship no matter what. 2) Rebuild the youth set up with a focus on producing our own players. 3) Hire a manager who can give us a footballing identity. 4) Scouting players within certain parameters (younger up and coming prospects) with an aim to develop them and sell them on in the future. I don't mind if we're sat in the Championship for a few years and I don't mind if we never spend 8 figures on a player again.
You know what, I feel for the fella a bit the way he’s been vilified. That said, the line ‘PP was the best candidate and CV for the job’ is exactly why he’s failed. Being a canny fella and clearly a bit savvy financially isn’t enough. He knows **** all about football, and that’s his failing. If he’d got the gaffer right and we were top 2 we wouldn’t be talking about him leaving. His failings are football related. We are a football club. A ****ing big one at that. Some of the **** I’ve seen said and written about the fella are a ****ing disgrace though, often by ****ers who have done the sum total of **** all with their lives. For sure I’ve ****ed up a few times. There’s a way to go about saying your times up.
He's a narcissist who likes being liked by football fans - which is why he is going to sell up now that he perceives we don't like him anymore.
He can't even spell mittens man! Claws, don't make me laugh! He puts me in mind of what was said about Geoffrey Howe - "It's like being savaged by a dead sheep".
What's the crack then? It looking like we're ****ed? Surely they didn't just invest in Stuart ****ing Donald man haway! I just hope they aren't ruthless and only loaned it to get the land/stadium/hotel/golf
Will be a concern if the Americans don't take over, get their cash back and disappear. That said, Sunderland are ripe for the picking for some individual or group, let all hope the next one is the right one....Our fans deserve so much better than what been on offer for the last few years.
I'm baffled and confused tbh. He said, just a few days ago, that the supporters would get what they want and FPP take over if the loan isn't paid. Now he's said they never wanted to take over ... ... then says it's still possible. I really can't see any point in FPP becoming involved at all if Donald is telling the truth. They wanted to buy Newcastle and I'm 100% sure they wanted to buy Sunderland. Donald's claim that they wanted to invest in SD and CM is frankly ludicrous. What is the big attraction, seriously. Nor do I believe, for one second, that a serious owner would be boasting about the great shape the club is in, work being done, signings targeted, future prospects, etc, only to throw all away because a tiny supporters group sent him a letter. 4000 supporters just travelled to Doncaster and cheered the club to the rafters. Why does RAWA override that support or the 30,000 at home games? I think it's absolute nonsense.
Can’t understand all this stuff what he is saying about fpp not wanting to takeover, was there not loads of NDAs flying about when he first started talking to them. Why/how is now any different from then, surely he couldn’t talk about the loan or their intentions on local radio. The whole things smells of bullshit coming straight out of his gob
I think that FPP saw how inept Donald was when they came over and had due diligence done. They suggested that the loan which they knew if they just sat it out would end up with them owning the club for peanuts. Donald has realised now because the parachachute payments have stopped that he is in it up to his neck. The RAWA thing is like a lifeline for him, an excuse to sell the club for more than he would have gotten from FPP so he can walk away with some money instead of nowt. Think he will pay the Yanks back and sell to the first buyer that comes along, and won't be bothered about their long term plans for the club. He is effectively freezing FPP out of the equation to get more money for himself.
