Depending on how results go tonight, as Swansea host Charlton, they could either go into our game in the playoffs, or only 3 points ahead of us. I'll update more with team news and possible outcome tomorrow, but thought I'd get the thread up early while I can. Anyway, now that I have clocked on that this is a cup game, league form goes out the window and we can rely on the magic of the cup.... As Shawswood has posted below, '“QPR have been eliminated from the FA cup 3rd round on 49 occasions - the only side to have been eliminated more times at this stage have been Plymouth Argyle (50)”' so I feel I can be forgiven for not having much hope going into this game. That said, we won 6-1, so if we can carry our league form into the cup it could go our way...but who am I kidding...even the club knows we are crap in the cup so they are selling reduced price tickets. Enjoy those who are going. You never know.
If we win our next game by four goals, irrespective of who we play, we will have achieved zero goal difference, which would be no mean feat, and also help us slip almost unnoticed into the foothills of the play off contenders, but let’s not mention that
My bad for missing it on the first post, but as it is FA cup it won't make a difference to the table...it'll be lovely to get a cup run going though.
I’d rest Eze. Kakay is back now from loan too so could be an option. Did well apparently in Scotland. Also with Leistner presumably injured we’re extremely light at the back. Not sure I’d be risking Cameron again but scratching my head for who can do a job there with Barbet presumably abducted by aliens. Rangel in the middle maybe.
According to Football Manager he can do a vague job there. Prefer him to Cameron in midfield given the choice. Honestly forgot Masterson existed.
I'd definitely rest Eze. I'm not one who likes lots of changes in the cup, but he's played an awful lot and that kind of fatigue can bring on a muscle strain. Masterson will start at centre back I'd have thought along with Hall. Kane and Wallace at full back.
When I was a kid we'd play for about six hours every day during the holidays. I don't remember getting tired or straining any muscles.
The summers were longer then though and you could leave your front door unlocked as everyone knew The Kray twins would sort them out for thieving.
Just bought tickets for this game. The booking fee is more than the cost of a ticket for us old ****ers.
From the BBC website; “QPR have been eliminated from the FA cup 3rd round on 49 occasions - the only side to have been eliminated more times at this stage have been Plymouth Argyle (50)” Another record coming our way?
Yes of course, but perhaps not entirely. I know that sports science suggests that injuries can be predicted and therefore avoided by resting players from games, but I don't recall a higher volume of injuries before this discovery. Presumably today's higher overall player fitness levels are a factor in this, but maybe there can also be an element of over-training.
I remember teams playing a full season 42 games on hard as hell pitches early season and muddy bogs mid season, with a squad of 14 players and anyone who had a modicum of talent they would be kicked around more than the ball. Players still played every game
