Nah, it's probs cos all you oldies don't know any modern decent choons, you just have to look beyond the charts for 99% of them now.
Keep 'em coming Quill my good man. You must have logged at least 20 on this thread alone that I'm gonna look into as they are all new to me. PS. In bygone days (late 50's & throught the early '60's) I was fortunate to have a school mate who's old man was in the Merch and he brought loads of "unknown" music back from the States, nost of which didn't get released over in England. It was treasure we discovered later.
Alright then, here's a recommendation tc - Weyes Blood. Her album from last year, Titanic Rising, was probably my fave record of the year. Feels very 70s, Joni Mitchell-esque. A few dark undercurrents to it as well.
Here you go, here's an album recommendation for each year of the 2010s. Tried to pick only one album per artist, a couple of them might've had more than one en 2010: The National - High Violet 2011: PJ Harvey - Let England Shake 2012: Tame Impala - Lonerism 2013: Agnes Obel - Aventine 2014: The War on Drugs - Lost in the Dream 2015: Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit 2016: David Bowie - Blackstar 2017: Wolf Alice - Visions of a Life 2018: Beach House - 7 2019: Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
Ta. Naturally, the only artist I do know is obvs Bowie, but haven't listened to any of it (unless you or someone else posted tracks on this forum). I'll give 'em all a go. These music threads are as good as any Christmas presents - all year long
I feel like I need to post more than 10 recommendations, might post some more later. I know most on here don't care, but this is nice and cathartic for me, let me have it!
Thanks for all the great links/ideas posted already. There's lots of great music out there but knowing where to look is the challenge.
