Keep sharing whatever you want to share mate. As Ernie says you’re never alone. Stick the number he posted in your phone, there’s always someone there to talk to. Take care, and focus on looking after your Grandma for now
Thank you for sharing this. You should never feel like somebody else’s battle should somehow influence the one you are fighting. I hope you can take the time to rebuild and look forward, take it easy pal. We seem to have trod similar paths and I always find your posts relatable. Anything you need, just ask. Have a great new year buddy.
Maybe not the right thing to say on here but Happy New Year to you all. We keep fighting don't we? A big thank you to the best and most important thread in on here by miles. This thread has certainly helped me. I'm the sort of person that is and has been the strong one for so many years. In truth and inside falling to pieces and ya know what? I don't really know why because I have a great family and friends. Cheers Quill for being strong and sharing your battles with us. I don't have the answers mate all I know is if you look hard enough there is light and something to keep you going. I'm **** at writing this stuff. X
“Let everything happen to you Beauty and terror Just keep going No feeling is final” ― Rainer Maria Rilke Yes, I have shamelessly borrowed this from the end of JoJo Rabbit, but it seems appropriate. Happy New Year, mate. Keep on keeping on.
I hope you're feeling better right now Quill. There's loads of good advice and support on this thread, and posts like yours are among the most valuable, because it helps to let people see that there are people who care, and there is support no matter how dark you feel at times. Credit to you for sharing, it's a strength, not a weakness.
Ten years ago I had a breakdown. I have never hidden it and will freely discuss it. I used to consider suicide endlessly, My day would start and end with the same depressive thoughts. Low self esteem, the spiral of stress leading to more stress. I work now primarily in insolvency, on Tuesday I will close a business down and make the employees redundant. The director met me last week and told me he was struggling to cope with it. We spoke for about 15 minutes and I told him that he wasn’t alone. I shared with him a brief outline of what I went through and how I changed my life. The pint is that I have weathered the storms and I am now so much better. I lost such a lot, but I have gained so much more. Christmas 2009 was one I would like to forget. No money, unable to fully function and desperately seeking a sign to show the way forward. Very dark times. This Christmas, I have enough money to treat myself and my family, holidays booked and paid for and I am content. No magic words, no easy solutions, I just stopped looking at the negatives and built on the positives. Quill, you need professional help and medication. Don’t be ashamed or scared, just make the call and get sorted. If you had a broken arm, you would get it put in plaster. Your mind is broke and you need it fixing.
Christmas can be a very **** time of the year. All the “happy family” photos everybody puts on Facebook, the bundles of presents in their houses in the morning, the night after night of drinking and socialising. It does put stress on others that maybe aren’t or can’t do those things. Obviously it’s not intentional. But never let yourself feel alone. There is always somebody to talk to and listen.
I was trying to find the right words. I'm shocked sitting here and reading this how many seem to have been in dark places, myself included. I've lived some highs and am now experiencing the lows and this year ahead is just as, if not more daunting than the the last. I'd never seen this thread and I'm pleased I came across it and the brilliant words of encouragement and empathy. Can I just say to all, lets try and meet here the same time next year.
It may not feel like it, but the fact you told someone, even us lot, is a good sign. I hope you find something/someone to help in real life, but in the meantime we’re with you too.
Excellent words. To anyone drawn to this thread because they're not happy with their life, please speak out on here. It's as anonymous as you want to make it, and there are plenty that want to help, but we are not experts, we just care. You're really not alone.

Added to OP and more recent one. If anyone has others, please feel free to post them, as it could just be the one someone can relate to, even if they don't want to post on here.
Hull is at the forefront of looking after our veterans/ ex-service personnel, but there is always more that can be done. Help is available on Anlaby Rd opposite The Lair. http://www.hull.gov.uk/benefits-sup...e/support-armed-forces-personnel-and-veterans
I know it’s a Australian site but there is some good informative reading on here. https://www.beyondblue.org.au/ I have read quite a bit of what’s on there, especially at times of high anxiety and it does help to bring it down a level or two. Good on you Quill for talking about your episode over Christmas, hopefully just writing it down on here helps somewhat.
