    Blimey!
How the **** did we lose to that shower of ****?

Well, the answer is because Lumley again cost us a goal, we can't defend set pieces and Eze was playing out of position for most of the game. Add to that BOS being switched to the left when he was devastating on the right and Warbs, again has questions to answer.

At half time, I told Beth and Roller that Hull were the worst team I'd ever seen. Obviously an exaggeration, but you get my drift. They both insisted that they thought Hull were playing well!!!!! I'd love other people's thoughts on that. Me and the lad couldn't believe how terrible Hull were. Their centre backs, especially the 4, were like sunday league defenders on the ball.

I like the way Warbs tries to play, but we do it far too slowly. The ball needs to be pinged around the back four and pinged into the midfield to move the opposition around. Our players aren't good enough to do this, so we roll the ball around the defence and into midfield which is mostly ineffectual.
The midfield at least showed more today and Ball was excellent and is our best holding player imo. Amos looks a good player but seems to lack the nerve to actually try to attempt a forward pass.

Our final ball lets us down, but we do play some decent stuff at times.

Not sure who was at fault for their winner, but it appeared to go straight through Lumley!

Anyway, here's my thoughts on the players:

Lumley - 2 - Get's 2 because he pulled off a reasonably good save. Apart from that he again gifted a goal and was soooooo slow with his distribution. Needs replacing.

Rangel - 6 - Solid and tried to get forward and effect the game. Covered well.

Hall - 6 - Little to do, as Hull were so poor. Won some headers.

Leistner - 6 - Same as Hall, but was troubled a bit by the Andy Carroll tribute act that came on in the 2nd half.

Manning - 4 - Another poor game. He never once tried to overlap and again gave the ball away time and time again. Didn't look like he ever wanted the ball when stood in acres of space. Maybe he's unhappy?

Ball - 7 - Excellent game. Broke up play and showed for the ball well. Our best player in that position.

Amos - 5 - Looks a good player, but simply refuses to take a risk and play the ball forwards. Confidence issue?

BOS - 7 - Started on fire and had their left back on toast. Final ball needs to improve. Inexplicably moved to the left where his left foot let him down. Faded as we ran out of ideas.

Chair - 8 - Excellent movement and link up play with BOS and Eze. Great strike for his goal. Faded along with the rest of them, but should never have been taken off as he was one of the few making things happen.
Probably should have scored a second when the keeper put his effort over the bar.

Eze - 6 - Played out of position on the left for most of the game. He and Chair swapped a bit, but he was mainly on the left. Did his best work when drifting into the 10 position, where he should always play and where the opposition least want him to be!

Wells - 6 - Worked hard and linked play well at times. Not convinced that his best days aren't behind him.

    Subs:

Smith - 4 - The opposite to his performance when he came on against Reading. Poor.

Hugill - N/A - Not on for long and hardly touched the ball. Nearly got on the end of a low cross.

Warburton - 4 - Needs to put things right fast. Playing Eze out of position and taking off our best player on the day, Chair, were bad mistakes.

Hull - 3 - Simply awful team. Wasted time from the start and committed niggly fouls all the time which the weak ref let them continue with. Feigned injury at every opportunity. ****ers!

I came away wondering how the hell we lost, but Warburton needs to get his act together fast.

Warbs needs to get his head out of the sand / his arse and be honest

Call a poor performance and poor performance and stop trying to defend crap

And let's attack now and again!

The season has gone to pot a month earlier than last year. This year will go down to the wire again and this time we’ll probably go down.
Was looking forward to playing Wild Thing at Wycombe.

They are going through a dodgy patch too - 3 losses on the bounce

I saw it much the same as you, Col. I didn't rate Hull as being bad as you say but, like you, I thought we played some good stuff at times, although we didn't test their keeper much. Lumley does some good things but he is making too many mistakes (how many can you recall Smithies making?). Him dropping the ball from that low, hard cross was Sunday league stuff. Our defending for the second goal was deja vu: our defenders being drawn towards the ball and leaving a man at the back unmarked. Comical, or it would be if it weren't so serious.

It was good to see Rangel out there again, being positive with the ball. Talking of which, Dominic was very effective, as was Chair (linking well with BOS and Eze). I can see something in Amos but he isn't offering enough for me in recent games: no tackles, not hungry for the ball, not doing much going forward. He needs to impose himself on the game more. Eze was rather wasted out wide but looked good coming inside (there's a lesson there).

Again, I thought Warburton was late with his substitutions: Amos should have been hooked at least 15 minutes earlier but his replacement, Smith, didn't look any better. Hugill's muscular approach would have brought something different but not with only 10 minutes to go and replacing one of our most creative players (Chair). Nevertheless, there was time for him (Hugill) to add another miss to his lengthening list, failing to make contact with a low cross about 2 yards from goal.

Despite our inability to turn half chances into on-target shots, and our charitable approach to D-E-F-E-N-D-I-N-G (I don't want to frighten our back 5 by using the actual word), I take some positives from today. There were some very neat, incisive passing movements at times and I'm glad we try to play out from the back because I think it gives us a solid and sensible base on which to build going forward: keeping possession just seems like basic common sense compared to hoof ball to a lightweight centre forward (Wells).

Have to agree regarding Ball. I think he's our best defensive midfielder.

In France so only saw live games on red button but agree, how did we lose that.
The last 3 games have been so frustrating to watch. Should have beat Charlton, at least a draw at fakes and should have easily beaten Hull.
For me we look like Reading of 2 seasons ago where they passed it around but never scored and conceded.
Warburton needs to sort this out. Forget the ’work in progress’ spin. Players need to be able to bloody pass the ball, stop giving it away and start learning to hit the back off the net.
We have dropped 6 points over the Christmas period because of stupid mistakes. This cannot keep happening. Warburton needs to remember that he made many changes after Steeve and needs to come up with the goods.
This season will go down to mistakes and naivety.

    Yep.
People keep saying that we're unlucky, but we are getting what we deserve for giving away so many goals.
