That’s so infuriating. We’ve played so well to throw away three points like that. Shouldn’t have been a free kick because it was an obvious dive but shocking mistake from Leno to hand them the goal.
Think we’ve been robbed by the officials but it was stupid to let them get two goals from the position we were in.
Two yellow cards for us for pulling players back while Jorginho stays on the pitch for an even more obvious one. Refs a ****.
We’ve done nothing this half really... I have to say I saw this coming at half time. We don’t have the defense to sit back against a top 6 side and see the game out.
We didn’t concede because of sitting back though. We defended well as a team but Leno made an individual mistake to let them score (from a free kick given for a dive and scored by a player who should have been sent off). Then we chased a second and they scored on the break. Neither goal was because of us not being able to sit back against them. I thought we were tactically spot on but frustratingly gave it away at the end.
I thought we were the better team in that game and that’s probably the first time I can say that this season. Some really positive signs despite the result. I like the way we set up, the desire and work rate were there, much better tactically and much calmer across the team. I just hope the team takes confidence from this rather than being disheartened. We did so much right and the team need to keep buying into Artetas philosophy even if the results don’t come straight away.
Just when we were looking ok, the one who has been reliable, the one bright spark, messes things up! Arrrghhhhhhhh!
We deserved to win that game. Absolutely gutted. Let down by some poor decisions by the officials (who overall were pretty good but then made a string of mistakes towards the end of the game) and Leno having a rare crazy moment and handing Chelsea a goal. I want us to set up in a similar way now going forward as I thought so much worked for us today and got a lot out of our players.
We’ve been in a horrendous rut! We haven’t won in god knows how long. But I think the way we are playing, the quality and work rate are improving and over the rest of the season if we continue along this pathway the results will start to come.
I guess some positives then, would have been more than happy with a point to be honest, even when we were winning 1-nil!
I think there are a lot of positives to be taken from this game. Our passing was good, work rate excellent, clever closing high up the pitch but then dropping into a good defensive shape when the press didn’t work. Tight lines allowing us to dominate the space in midfield and limit Chelsea’s chances down the middle. We also managed to play a high effort, closing/tight game whilst also getting the best out of Ozil which I think will be really important for us for the rest of the season.
I don’t think we deserved to win that game. we didn’t deserve to lose it, but I maintain we did nothing going forward that entire second half, and Chelsea just had more and more of the ball.
Guess you could not legislate for individual errors, next up Manu, who seemingly have the bit between their teeth, we have played teams in poor form, they either turned us over or gotten a point.. We just seem to be that team that keeps giving at the moment!
