Yeah tell me about it, massive let off. Nothing wrong with their goal, we've had the same happen to us as well, VAR's killing the game. If they don't fix it/ bin it sooner or later I can see clubs losing a lot of fans at games.
It's not VAR that's killing the game, it's the rules, more specifically one rule, the one that's been ****e for years. Off-side was introduced to stop strikers (attackers) gaining unfair advantage by loitering around the opponents box, not to penalise someone who is quicker to react to a situation or has a slightly longer fringe. If they are to persist with VAR then they need to change the rule back to the old "clear daylight" thing, at least that will provide some measure of reality and cut out a lot of the conjecture as to how thick the lines on the still pic should be.
If you go to games where it is used you would think it is ruining them. You don't celeb rate in the same way...cos you have no idea if it'll be disallowed. VAR is supposed to be for clear and obvious errors...it was to stop the 4 or 5 goals a season wrongly allowed that were clearly offside and the 4 or 5 that were clearly wrongly disallowed. Spurs v Leicester... saw us lose out Spurs v Sheffield United...saw united lose out Spurs v Brighton...saw us lose out Spurs v Norwich saw Norwich lose out That's 4 goals in our games that would have stood last season. VAR has ruled them all out, effectively on a guess...that just us. I suspect every club has similar versions. None of these are clear or obvious errors...unlike some of the penalties they have failed to give after a poor decision by a ref. Spurs v Newcastle...spurs lose out Spurs v Watford... Watford lose out On top of that it don't check for fouls outside the box. Winks was suspended for tonight's match cos he was booked for a foul on Saturday v Brighton. He did not touch the bloke...it was a dive...snd they scored from the free kick. Again most clubs can point to similar issues. VAR has been implemented stupidly and is ruining live football. 3 or 4 mins to check a decision for a clear and obvious errors... if it's that clear and obvious WTF takes it so long to do such a simple thing? It's ok in the CL (offsides apart) cos the ref checks his own decisions but in the prem it is beyond a joke...especially for those who go yo games cos it is killing the atmosphere
They did mate ... they confirmed you are not quite the worst Prem team from London ... although it seems Norwich were robbed ... now about those Top 4 spots? ...
Before VAR was introduced, there was a programme that gauged how Premier League refs were performing. It was said during the course of a whole season, how many serious wrong decisions were made.......the answer ONE! But this will not be discussed because the money men want the system. It's seen as a form of insurance. So how long will it be before a VAR decision ends up in court OR with a substantial damages payout.
VAR was introduced into the Prem to protect our refs. The media, fans and managers were crucifying refs game after game. VAR removes the heat from the refs. We have reaped what we all sewed before VAR.
I never appreciated how not **** PL officials are until I started going to non league games. The guys at that level have as much understanding of and empathy for the game as a BBC Sport gossip column spanner like Hilary.
