I was a bit harsh on Djenepo after the West Ham game but wow, I haven’t seen a sub change a game that significantly for years. He was a joy to watch. Looks much better playing on the right. Maybe play Redmond more central behind Ings. As for Boufal. He’s more interested in winning free kicks than actually looking for a pass. He was garbage today.
Too early to say, he needs to be given more time. Although I would agree that at the moment, it is hard to justify playing him over any of our other current options.
Djenepo was on the left, but I agree about Boufal. He lacked a couple of yards of pace and made falling over look an effort. Moussa has to start ahead of him now.
He just doesn’t seem to read the game very well. Always half a second too late making a run or getting to the ball. Instinct is a hard thing to teach. Luckily Ings has two strikers’ worth.
His problem was linking up with Danny. He held the ball up well a few times but couldn't find anyone to pass it to.
Adams and Ings played too far apart, I like to forwards play along side each other rather than 30m apart
Funny old game, I thought he looked fairly promising. Held it up well a few times. I'd give him an FLT run of fives games with Ings personally, try and get them linking up.
Palace were extremely well organised (Kelly's rick apart) and we really went for it in the last 15 minutes. It looked like a jaded performance in the first half but I think that there was a bit of energy conservation too. Centre Midfield is working so much better now and we don't look like self destructing in defence any longer which is a massive positive. Three games unbeaten now and playing Spuds at home will probably suit us better than Palace atm. Oh and Danny scored again..England call up and the Golden Boot in 2020?..
Yeah, he’s doing the little things like holding up play, pressing when he can, generally positioning himself well. He’s just lacking the cutting edge. Not quite in sync with the rest of the team, and not beating players off the dribble or pulling a shot out of his ass a la Obefemi. But I think that might come with confidence. I can’t complain about someone who is adjusting to this level making sure they get the fundamentals right first and supporting the team instead of turning the ball over or dribbling into walls.
My daughter always used to wonder why she had C&A in her knickers as a kid until the shop closed down a few years ago....
Happy with that. I know we had the chances to win it, but I've got no complaints with a point. The game largely went as I expected. Even though I prefer us to play with less than 50% possession, Palace were never really the team to allow that to happen. And that one horror moment aside, they defended very well. It wasn't until Djenepo came on that I felt like they were under any real pressure. Our build up play was largely fine, but getting past them - whether in the air or on the floor - was very difficult. You can see why they don't concede many goals. If there is a downside, it's Adams. Once again I didn't see anything from him that Long doesn't already give us. I'm not saying that he played poorly today or on Thursday, just that we don't need a second Long.
