It should not be in our nature to mistrust and expect dishonesty where there is no evidence of any.
    Every negative story about these new owners is based on one of two things;

    1) People rooting around looking for dodgy relationships and posting far-fetched conspiracy rumours on forums & social media. It's the job of the EFL to check for issues with the new owners. But we have a small army of private dicks and wums stirring up trouble for their own entertainment.

    2) The delay with the EFL, taking their time to ratify the deal. Because it didn't go through in less than a fortnight the rumour mill has gone into overdrive. Rival group of charlton fans have been trying to score points off each other, or whip up nonsense to sell their fanzine.

The new owners are the good guys until they themselves do something to undermine that position.
Not until some ITK guru on CL says they aren't.

    Come on, for pity's sake.
We all want Duchatelet gone don't we? Why are some folk getting their jollies from the notion that these new owners are somehow worse?

What's being said about them anyway? VOTV had 10 pages about the takeover apparently.

It p1sses me off that the Fanzine moron is bracketing the new owners with Kevin Cash & Duchatelet. They shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence.

    Nothing good, so I'm told.

    Such a pity.
I wanted to believe 'organised' resistance to CAFC owners would cease when this take-over is completed.
But it looks as if it has become an industry now. More important than the good of the Club.

If that is true then it doesn't matter how honest or well intentioned any new owner is.
They are just going to be targeted for abuse if they don't give certain people jobs.
I thought that kind of talk was just sniping. But if some kind of anti-ESI group emerges then it will only prove that everything Royston & Reams say about the CARD leadership was true all along.

Bloody hell. Don't it it be true.
Isn't the opportunity for a better future for the whole of CAFC more important than getting snouts back in the trough?

I didn't want to believe it. What is the matter with these people?
The new owners deserve every chance. Not this f**king nonsense. I despair.

A number of fans on social media have commented on snide comments in this months VOTV by the Fanzine Editor towards the new owner. Perhaps @DickPlumb could elaborate. I don’t buy the VOTV, preferring Andrex.

Everitt's VOTV is an indepth and informative read.

Mr ban Gerwen should know better and appreciate this. Ivor said Everitt knows "jack ****"<doh>.

Everitt knows his stuff and is not the enemy.

I know one thing, outside his Charlton Life comfort bubble, Rick Everitt gets dogs abuse from other Charlton fans on Twitter. He Blocks most of them, but can be in no doubt what the rank and file rather than the tank tops think of him.

Do you disagree about the content in the VOTV?

How can I disagree with something I studiously avoid buying ?

I’m going by the social media feedback.

At a conservative estimate, I would say Everitt is respected by about 3% of Charlton fans....who all happen to post on one (dire) forum.

This is some of the text from VOTV. Southall was pictured at Bolton Wanderers Macron Stadium arriving with Laurence Bassini the Watford owner from May 2011 to June 2012. Bassini was banned from any position of authority at a Football League club for three years after being found guilty of misconduct and dishonesty.

Another section of the article reads: Matt Southall was out of work and unable to settle a five figure debt to lawyers just nine months before he emerged as the front man for the group poised to take control of the Club.

There is more but I am running out of battery.

    I'm not having it.

CARD are not going to sour this take-over, not for me anyway.
What do they want - six more years of the Belgian?
When we go down at the end of this season we ain't coming back, if Roland is still running things. That's for certain.

Does being the permanent 'moral guardians' of CAFC mean trashing every potential owner who comes along?
We DON'T NEED to be bossed about, and told when to protest and what to think.
    Enough of that.

my only concern with the new owners is that they've come out of nowhere, done it real fast and probably paid over the odds. what happens when they get bored? sell us for pennies in sh1t state?

am hopeful though. they seem decent - been to more games than roland already and seem to be liked. the £21m share release thing seems like good news. makes the ownership more simple than it ever has been (e.g. hopefully no more murray, 3 directors, loans secured on assets, loans to belgium) whilst also giving us a budget for january.

3 players going/gone so far. hopefully 3 better in and some returning injured should see us alright. the goal should still be survival and then regroup and build in the summer.

i really hope they do the training ground up so we can hopefully not have such a long injury list all the time. some michael jackson oxygen tanks would be nice.

I don’t like the snide insinuation that Matt Southall was unemployed before he latched on to Charlton.

Although Everitt was presumably talking from personal experience...
