Depends on the rest but i would say win next 6 and I will be joining rest of you next 3 if city and leicester lose 3 each lmao 22 points ahead with 14 to go and I will be feeling super confident
What nonsense. They’re merely paying the price for not replacing Kompany and then losing Laporte, it’s that simple. The more astute amongst us called it at the time.
Yeah think thats spot on, what i don't understand is how Pep didn't realise this would happen Kompany (not just the goal) was a colossus in the run in last season, not that goal but everything else he did smacked of quality. Its amazing really, how losing one player can have so much of an effect. Thats why i keep trying to not get excited about this season, when we lose VVD we will know more about our side. Thats why we need to keep winning imho as that blip will come, its just how when and how we react to it.
Agreed. Kompany was a fabulous leader in that side. You only had to hear him speak to understand the influence he had in that dressing room. It was no coincidence that Pep played him in virtually their entire run in last season despite his creaking legs, as it was as much for his ability to galvanise the side, as it was for his defensive contribution.
That's part of it in terms of reducing the squad, but for Pep to think he can get 197 points in the last 2 seasons then go again with almost the same squad was insane. Last window was basically Rodri in, Kompany out. Season before was basically Mahrez in. That's not enough turnover to refresh a squad expected to win almost every game. If we didn't push City so hard last season they would have rotated more and introducted Foden properly, maybe some more players. If Liverpool's lead continues then Klopp can rotate more to avoid us having a similar burnout next season.
You brought in no first teamers in the summer, which somewhat downs your own argument. Kompany wasn’t replaced and the loss of Laporte has ended up seeing their midfield lynchpin being used as a CB. It’s akin to you losing VvD and then Gomez for the season without replacing either.
If our mods had any balls theyd ban tobes for being not only a bitter blueshite but a man city fan too. Dont need his constant negativity
Not bringing in first teamers is why I'm #worried for next season. Minamino is a start but we also need to introduce players who will replace Lallana and Lovren. Winning the PL 3 times in a row was done by Ferguson. He bought off the refs so didn't need half as many points as City and Liverpool now get, but he still knew refreshing the squad was key. Kompany was a sicknote who hardly played and they saw his departure coming. Pep has already put £400m into his defence so not having a backup for Laporte isn't an excuse. We did lose Gomez for a season. Plus Fabinho and Henderson have both had to play CB for us.
