It's funny working with then sometimes, as the heaviest is isn't cold, so i only work in a t shirt, and they are used to seeing me in 3 fleeces.

So it's the usual bollxs, and i'm like, **** off they wetre done decades ago before they were a fag big arm rage.

The fact that loads of gyms are covered wall to wall in mirrors speaks volumes really .

It's that (other) time of the year again!

    Going for a run tomorrow.

First of many, hopefully. Can't see where I get to fit gym in for quite a bit.

Will use @luvgonzo playlist for company, if not inspiration.

Fess up Pisk, what's your current weight situation?

I'd freely admit I am currently at least a stone on the plus side. Haven't put loads on this festive period but haven't even touched the ****ing cheese yet!

I'm cutting down on red meat and ****e again for January, eat more fish is the aim. Never gonna a be proper veggie again.

I've also massively lapsed on the bread front.

Probably more like 2 stone for me. I don't mind carrying a bit of extra weight at all though, it's more about fitness, flexibility and stamina for me. I want to drop 15kg next year I reckon I can do the bulk of that by summer.

You can be the right weight and still be as unhealthy and unfit as ****. So as you say it's about putting the right fats and nutrients into your body and exercising regularly. Exercise for me is also my head space, where I can work things out.

Yeah, the 'right' weight can be a bit of a smoke screen.

I used this Boditrax when I was going to Bath Uni gym. My BMI was always too high but if you looked at the other measurements I wasn't in bad nick.
BMI says someone of my (average i would guess, short to others) height shouldn't be as heavy as me.
Doesn't take other things into the equation though.

I've put a few kilos on since mind, of the wrong sort. Need to get that fixed again.

Nowhere near as heavy as I was at the time of the OP two years ago!

Yep BMI doesn't take any variations into account. I'm broad and I have large muscles, so that's why I'm not worried about carrying extra weight according to the ideal for my height 5"11. Like I said, fitness, strength/flexibility and stamina are more important to me. I don't use Gyms or track my stats really. I just need to feel in good shape generally as I'm quite active in my work and my leisure time. As you know I like to surf, cycle & swim, so you need to be able to have good general fitness and to be proactive in preventing and manage injuries. (stretching)

I also go to the over 40's MOT at the GP each year lol. it's free and it's a good checker for BMI, Blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. I think they check your bloods for a few things too. So it's worth it to know you're staying healthy / or to sort anything out before it becomes a problem.

No one cares about people that can't put weight on.

    I also 5'11".

Currently weigh in at 15st 8. Immediate target is down to 15 and take it from there. Hard work at my age to get below that without some serious calorie deficit.

Will use my bike more, got it all ready to ride in boxing day as was taking my eldest out for his first go in new bike. The rear derailleur sheared off first change of gears and that was that!
Had a bit of a bump in Cornwall and hadn't noticed I'd completely bent the frame and ****ed the gearing.

Took it to the bike shop yesterday, ****s were closed despite advertising the fact they were open. They are open today but I'm not there, won't get the bugger in to be fixed to after new year now.

It'll cost a bomb too, no doubt. Needs new derailleur, A full service and I'll have disc brakes put on it.

You sure it's not just the hanger that's ****ed ?

That's the sacrificial lamb to protect the rear mech, so it's worth checking that first. Cheap fix if is.

I'll let the bike maintenance place have a look. It's probably fixable, yes. Doubt they'd rip me off by saying I need a replacement, there's no benefit to them to do that really.

It's an old Deore XTR so new equivalent would be very pricey!

    Managed two.miles at 11 minutes a mile.

Was dodging walkers and it was muddy as ****, that's my excuse anyway.

****ing genuinely don't know how people don't get bored runningm long distance. I'd be happy to run five miles, that's my limit, regardless of what tunes I'm listening to.

    **** going further.

Was a very nostalgic run, I went past a thousand childhood memories. Was literally on the banks of the river Irwell for a quarter mile.

Didn't quite make the shores of Sicily though.

  20. Well done, Chief.

I'm going to get back running. I stopped when I left the Bath campus, at the end of September, but my walk into the office since then (from Bathwick Hill) has been a mile each way, and the walk back is mainly uphill (as you know). That's kept my weight steady, but I want to push on, in the New Year and drop another stone.
