Totally fine with us resting Ings. Palace is the much (much, much) bigger game for us. Plus, it gives Adams and Obafemi an equal shot of putting their hand up to be the guy who replaces Long, if Shane remains injured come Saturday.
Basically the same team with fresh legs up front, i'd have expected Shane and Danny to be chasing a few lost causes today but would've liked to see Danny in the team. Shane might have a dodgy knee too but Adams and Obafemi will be hungry and we might get a nice suprise. I reckon 2-1 to Chelsea but hope we can somehow sneak a point there. Would love Che to score.
Always want to see Danny playing but fully accept why he isn't with another, more important, game on the horizon. We have a better chance of points from the Palace game....let's hope it works. Not completely given up on something today either.
That's a pretty consistent team selection. Nothing Ralph can do about Shane Long being injured and Danny Ings is better rested so he can blow holes in the Palace net. Oh wouldn't it be nice if Che Adams could bag a goal or two. Just bloody hit it kiddo and it might fly in. Come on you Saints.
I'm undecided if I'd have done it, but I was certainly expecting us to. Partly because of what he would bring, and partly to give someone a rest.
Whilst I understand the logic of resting Danny, I do worry about where the goals will come from. Hopefully it pays off.
I assume the game plan is to keep it tight hopefully keep it 0-0 until the 2nd half and then Ingsy comes off the bench to bag the winner. That's what I'm picturing in my mind anyway.
