I think that was the plan being Bowler. Maybe they expected to lose Jarrod and thought he might be a like for like replacement.... yet to prove it IMO..
I understand your view re how it might 8mprove him but I would not send him out yet as he is too valuable as an impact sub for us right now.
An injury or two in the striker department and he’d get more game time... His finish the other day was of a very confident striker...
Yes now he is, but as I said once the 2 forwards we have out injured are back plus another in on loan....is he going to get much game time? Probably not so send him on loan for the second half of the season to get valuable minutes
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will sign a six-month contract at AC Milan until June 2020, with an option to sign for a further year.
He's scored three goals in 72 minutes of play, he's quite obviously up to playing at this level and he'd more valuable scoring for us, than he is anyone else.
I never said he wasn't up to playing at this level! Once our 2 other strikers are fully fit and if we bring in yet another in Jan, how many minutes will he realistically get? His long term development right now would be best helped by as many minutes as possible
Out of the three forwards we had on the pitch, he was easily the most useful. If the other two aren't able to get on the ball, don't expect him to score. He'll hit double figures this season, no problem.
He’s been better recently, but if another striker comes in and Magennis returns, he might well drop down the pecking order. Doesn’t look like Marriott’s going to be the striker addition, Cocu’s said today he’s been carrying an injury and they’re not looking to move him out.
That's a shame but not surprising, though Cocu might not be there for much longer given there league position. To be fair, we don't know if the two bids are a midfielder and a striker. It's what we need, but it doesn't necessarily mean that that's what it is.
Hence why KLP is on the bench and from that has done well, but when they are all fit and if we bring another in.... Will KLP be getting the game time with us? Doubtful so it would be better for him to go and get game time, learn his trade and take his lumps
I'd like to see KLP start, has to happen sometime. That Mason Greenwood's only 18 and he starts. KLP might be no Mason Greenwod but then we're not Man U either. What I don't know is how resilient physically or mentally he is, he'd likely get knocked about a bit in the Championship.
He isn't just a striker, though, he can play on either wing or through the middle. Balogh can play as a winger, but Eaves and Magennis are out and out strikers. Having utility off the bench is almost certainly what we need. Two of the three I just mentioned are quite injury prone, so provided he stays, KLP will continue to get minutes. If he keeps scoring off the bench, the manager will have to start him, without question.
The bench on Saturday was as bad I can remember. Ingram, Taffazolli and Pennington aren't going to get on unless there's an injury, Kingsley and Honeyman are better off not coming on even if there is an injury, there was only Bowler who had a chance to possibly change anything.
I said to the bloke next to me at the start of the game "I don't know what we're going to do with four defenders and a keeper among the subs". It just shows how paper thin our squad is. Presumably he would have included Elliott Bonds or Ryan Hanson, but they're carrying injuries. I know they're on their way out, but he could have stuck one of Henriksen or Milinkovic in there, either would have given us something else off the bench.
