If Rafa could find attackers as easily as defenders, we'd be a CL team by now. Fernandez, Clark, Schar, Lejeune vs Murphy, Muto, Joselu, Gayle. Alright, Gayle did a job in the Championship, but he's not much use out of it. Joelinton is a very suspicious deal, I'd be investigating the **** out of that if I was the FA. Doesn't look remotely like a decent player, makes Joselu look good. No idea who decided he was worth £40m but I think someone sold this one to Fat Mike who was clearly adamant about getting him. Just for a laugh I'd love to see how well he could play at Liverpool, or Man City, just to see if it's "us" or him. But some of the stuff against Palace was dire - he ran into his own players, failed to make the most basic runs and just didn't look like he knew what to do.
Recruitment has always been hit and miss with Rafa. Arguably they should have pushed on and win a league title while Rafa was at Liverpool. But he made some guff signings, attacking players just aren't his strength. But I'll be the first to admit that defensively we are probably better than we have ever been because of Rafa. But I also won't take anything away from Bruce who has done very very well. He's shown that given a recourse to work with he can do the job.
