I remember reading up on the transfer somewhere, if you remember he was always a canny player, very different to now, more attacking and the downside was he could drift in and out of games.

I vividly remember him single handedly dragging us to a win v Wigan on a day when defeat would have been likely relegation a few years sooner, that was the day that made him for me.

I read that Liverpool scouted him for a full 8-9 months, kept in constant contact with club, spoke to folk who had coached him before he made the first team the lot. Checked on his mentality and his natural stamina levels, really went next level and beyond on the information.

That’s how it’s done, that’s how you end up a top, top side. That’s how you avoid dressing rooms bossing managers.

As I said, he does us proud. Smashing player, has the absolute respect of some of the best players on the planet for club and country, racking up them trophies, great with the press.

Wonder if Liverpool would give someone at our club a crash course on how to recruit a rounded footballer, they seem to get it right 99% of the time.

I've been banging on about Saracens rugby club doing that exact same thing for ages now. Seems a pretty straightforward concept to adopt really but our half-arsed run club never seem to do things properly.

Its massive mate. Mentality can be everything.

Keane talked about it massively, he brought it from United under Ferguson, who was ruthless.

He got some wrong, sure, but he replaced them, dropped them, moved them on.

Big stars weren’t safe, he was the boss, the be all and end all. Keane himself felt it, as did Beckham.

They did alright in that period I’d say, no mutiny, nobody ever accused a Ferguson side of not playing for the gaffer.

His crowning glory was the last title he won, that team had no business beating that City team that year, but every player believed that they could, and they did.

Imagine If you placed a bet when he left us
That he would be in the England squad would lift the European cup and the world club trophy
What would the odds have been

He played his first game for England while with us. He was switched from the under 21 side for a friendly against France.

As I recall he looked out of his depth at the time.

There seems to be a small section of the Liverpool crowd that are not convinced about Jordan.
Perhaps this latest trophy might change some minds.

Not just over the road. I remember a lot of our fans thinking he wasn’t good enough. Not many dudes in the premier he wouldn’t get into. Probably only City and that’s only because Fernandinho is class!! Great player and possibly the most successful since the 20th century started!!

I remember his England debut. He wanted the ball at every opportunity and used it well without being dazzling. One thing that stood out was, he asked fir the ball from a throw in quickly as he saw a move developing and Ferdinand refused. Waited and waited and let the opportunity disappear. Looked like he didn’t dare use him.
