I actually don’t think we would be We obviously wouldn’t be as strong but Gomez getting his head back in now I suppose it would depend who else was injured and at what point the injury occurs regarding all the other players around him Laporte was a massive loss but I think it was the loss of kompany that is hurting City coupled with the fact that they are double champions coupled with our desire to go for it this season But I said it last year and got mocked by quite a few It is no way near over yet and I fully expect city to be back in this at some point When we lose a game it will be very interesting to see how we react The pressure is not on us yet Keeping myself fully grounded
Just a reminder that we kept a clean sheet against Bayern Munich without Van Dijk Apparently City lose to Norwich without Laporte Sounds like excuses to me
Just harping on about that VAR thing.... I accept it was outside the area (so should have been a sending-off), but... who remembers Carra some time ago against Reading? He dragged back their player just as he entered our box. Carra was clearly outside the box, but, it was argued, their player had a foot on the line (probably a toe, in all honesty), so therefore it was a pen. Has that law changed, or was it just the usual media bullshit that they come up when an incorrect decision against Liverpool needs to be justified after the event? A bit like that one when Olivier gave a pen against Lovren when he fouled Berahino two yards outside the box, but the pen was understandable, according to the Mail, because Berahino flung his arm onto the line.
No the law still states final contact. The commentators saying "first contact was outside the box" are idiots who need to #readtherules Also part of the player on the line counts as inside the box It was a #nailedon penalty if the rules were applied correctly
Thanks for that - thought my auld memory was failing. Rafinha celebrated afterwards as if he'd got a good tackle in - wtf was that about? The only question was whether the foul was in the box or not. What did that third world, incompetent/corrupt ref see? A wedge from FIFA ?
Tough game and despite 'their' best efforts to keep it from us, we won fairly and squarely. I don't say this lightly because it's a serious subject but I thought the referee was racist. His behaviour towards Mane, Keita and one of their black players was blatantly disrespectful.
That’s an interesting observation Can’t say I had made the link but he was a terrible ref imho Not because of the pen/no pen I just thought he was very inconsistent but from what I can remember you could be correct - might have to have a rewatch on the iPlayer
It was just so obvious you couldn't really miss it. What happens with poor referees is the game gets away from them so as the game progressed his decisions became more erratic and the picking on black players, less obvious.
Funny this, but I thought he had something against mane in particular and keita. The amount of descions he gave against mane was ridiculous, plus he was quite happy for him to be kicked and pulled all over the pitch. Little naive me didnt link it to racism more something personal, but it could well have been.
We would have won in normal time except for the massive time wasting by Flamengo and bottle job by the referee
Often in these showpiece games the ref starts out prepared to let the game flow. There were a few dodgy tackles early on and he let them go. Then Mane does a nothing tackle and gets a very stern talking to. A few more strong tackles and no action from the ref until Keita barely touches one of theirs; same stern talking to from the ref....... then the same reaction from him to a nothing tackle from one of their black players. It wasn't nice to watch.
If we win the Premier league finally Will it have its own shape and the number 1 or will it be added to league titles and number 19 ?
Re-branding it doesn't make it a different competition. It'll be 19 league titles, regardless of what they do with the graphical representation.
