Troy Deeneys interview class... when asked about the pressure, he said 'this is not pressure, watching my mum work 3 jobs, thats pressure' we're just footballers...
What do you want him to do ? A ten minute stand up routine ?Juggle plates ? tap dance ? impersonate Prince Charles ? or get results on the pitch ? Which is more important ? I actually heard booing on Saturday when Grant McCann didn't wave after a chant of McCann....McCann gives us a wave. FFS
I'm warming to McCann despite the non waving snub. Had my doubts when he was appointed, and he has made one or two faux pas since he started, but we are on an upward trend and we are seeing some kind of stability and squad developing. You look around this division and you see the basket case owners running clubs running up massive debts like Mel Morris spaffing his wad at Derby,....and they're well below us despite our well-documented ownership issues. You see other clubs full of their own bullshit like Forest, the Massive, DQPR ......castles built on sand. Brentford are doing an admirable job, as are PNE....but they are exceptions among the bullshitters and power-crazed-dreamers. We're doing fine.
Kid Lewis Potter the next Garry Lineker now according to our very own ‘Swanny’ Who the **** authorised his day release? Allams OUT
Hopefully KLP will resist peer pressure and not visit King Arthur's or Ronnie Starr, or dream up some kind of "look at me, I'm worth it" trademark goal celebration or wear some kind of crazy-coloured boots.
I accept he is not the best manager to listen to post-match, but he did a good job for us, and it seems is starting to turn Watford season around also. Paul Hurst comes a close 2nd to Nigel in the interview stakes, but he is also doing a good job at Scunny. I can put up with a boring manager if he does the business on the pitch.
Recall one of the great sportswriters, probably Hugh McIlvanney or Brian Glanville, quoting that when some modern, well paid sports star was complaining about the pressure he was under for getting paid a lot of money to do something others would actually pay to do. In the meantime, remember- diamonds are created under pressure so hold on, it will be your time to shine soon.
