Get another dog, Spes. If you have the time to look after it, get one. Our family dog, a Welsh Springer, we had to have put to sleep maybe 35 years ago was my best friend. I'd love to have another but circumstances don't permit. The dog we called Kim and he actually did active service in Northern Ireland during the troubles. It's been a long time without him.
Been out today for a lovely walk in the countryside with my 11 year old Jack Russell Elvis . I always say he’s the best £150.00 I have ever spent ,he makes me laugh everyday without fail .He loves all people and has never had a bad bone in his body.I can’t read stories about cruelty to animals I find it totally abhorrent
Zzzz Zzzz The collie is Mary's He thinks the cats are his sheep . Both Lia and Taffy like cats more then they like dogs
I like that. I guess a few on here are now vegetarian or vegan then? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1573245054/?tag=not606-21
There's a programme on Netflix called "Don't **** with cats" about an internet community tracking down people responsible for videos of animal cruelty. I found it an interesting watch.
Is it OK that I can't watch things about animal cruelty? I sometimes think I'm burying my head in the sand and maybe I should watch such things, so I can be more informed. I've literally had tears in my eyes at some of things I've seen and read in the past and so I avoid watching. But then I wonder if I'm just turning a blind eye.
I'm the same, I only opened the link in the OP to check it wasn't about this programme. The programme isn't graphic in imagery, but sometimes the imagination can be worse. It does ask questions around the need for some to shock, and whether our public outrage fuels further actions.
I choose not to watch them for similar reasons. I don’t feel the need to be anymore informed by watching things like that barbaric ‘festival’ where dogs are blow torched and skinned alive because ... some people are ****s. I know my view on it and it won’t change
It's understandable ..... but it's surely the right thing to do to first be informed. I've been there, and still am from time to time, with tears in my ears and utter bewilderment watching how so called civilised human beings can be so cruel, evil, barbaric to fellow creatures. As Yourofsky says, 'to animals we must be the devil himself'. Google Yourofsky, Earthlings, and numerous others.
Can see your point but I enjoy seeing people doing good things for mistreated animals in programmes like Dog Rescuers and Paul O’Grady’s programme at Battersea Dogs and Cats centre. Enjoyed O’Grady’s Animal Orphans in Africa as well.
I think you just started me off on the road to veganism, and no I couldn’t watch the three or four minute clip of the slauterhouses!
Got two little Jack Russell bitches myself. One's 11 years old and the pups just 7 months. Cracking little dogs. Been on Cott Rec this afternoon and they're grafted but we enjoyed it.
