My guess is that Long is Ings’ choice as a strike partner. Danny was the only player whose head didn’t drop against W Ham, but after Shane was subbed, it did a bit.

 

They certainly seem to compliment each other.

 

I like Stephens. Still not convinced this is his level, and he’s 25 so it’s probably now or never. He’s been given another chance, so fingers crossed he can form a proper partnership with Bednarek now.

 

Also think Grealish should be a shoe-in for the england squad, hes exactly what england are missing. Brilliant player. Cant see him being at villa for too much longer.

 

We were fortunate that he was surrounded by mainly rubbish. Allowed us to regularly double-up, sometimes triple-up, on him.

If he had, for example, Maddison and Chilwell and Tielemans around him, that option wouldn't have been available to us.

 

I still don’t believe no one has actually told him what a twat he looks though.

 

He has always shown glimmers and moments of real quality, if the guy could string some performances together and cut out some of the ridiculous errors leading to goals he would be a guaranteed starter. When he's calm and composed he has real control over the ball but his real issues rise when the pressure is on - and at this level its rarely off. Maybe like the rest of the squad he needs some confidence.

 

Lets also crow that we have the (equal) second highest scorer in the League this season. when was the last time that happened?
