Surely we cannot play such an open style away from home tomorrow. Long ball yes, high-line not so sure, but we need to press better tomorrow than against West Ham.
Villa's whole season so far has been about getting points in the games that matter. They've barely put a foot wrong in that respect. (I think their draw vs Man Utd is their only point against a side in the top half.) So on that basis, they should be much more confident than us tomorrow. And, indeed, with Norwich and Watford to then follow straight after Villa could end this Xmas week with a very healthy gap opened up, and the three of us suddenly cut right adrift. It's something of an eggs-in-one-basket strategy, to only be taking points off your rivals. Because if that stops, then you don't really have anywhere else to turn. But it's working OK for them so far, and will be working incredibly well for them if they keep it going over these next three games. And there are enough poor sides around, that it is possible to stay up based on results against those sides alone. We could take a leaf out of their book to be honest, starting tomorrow. Because if we were to lose, we'll be coming away with just six points from a run of matches against Everton, Watford, Norwich, Newcastle, West Ham and Villa. A one point per game average from that grouping is nowhere near good enough. Even more so when we started the run already in the bottom three. Even more so when there are no draws involved in that, such that we are constantly handing out three points to sides who we're trying to chase down. A win tomorrow makes it a just about acceptable run if results for us, in my view. But anything less, and we've wasted these matches. Possibly to our ultimate detriment.
Maybe I've spent to long in the spa and the head massages have scrambled my brain, but I think well win this 1-2. Boufal to shine at last. And poor che to get a last min winner.
Ron did a good job for us. now ask any club in the world who they would want to manage them between Ron and Poch. I rest my case.
Im just getting ready to meet the boys for a day of beer snooker and golf simulator for my birthday. Saw this and had to reply. You are probably right but I still think Ron was better than bang average for us. And is a better coach than you give him credit for. Here’s to a Saints 3-0 win and I hope I’m still sober enough come 5pm to enjoy it. Up the ****ing saints.
Well they both left us as soon as a better offer turned up so that makes them both a pair of twats in my book.
Got a feeling we might actually take our chances and win today, we always seem to get one good win around Christmas and I reckon today's the day. 3-1 Saints.
I hope we go for something like: McCarthy Cedric Bednarek Stephens Bertrand JWP Romeu Armstrong Long Ings Redmond or McCarthy Cedric Bednarek Stephens Bertrand Armstrong JWP Romeu Redmond Adams Ings COYS!
