I feel bad for Aubamayang having to play with this lot. I dont think any of that back four is good enough for a Top four side. Also Ozil.. is he actually playing because he's nowhere to be seen soo far.
This is utterly humiliating. City haven't even gotten out of 2nd gear and they've absolutely blitzed us. I can't even understand how we're this bad.
Well this is rather depressing. From a tactical point of view: - Guendouzi has to push up because Ozil just runs where he likes and doesnt actually occupy the midfield. - Torreira is left totally exposed and out-numbered. - Our defence is garbage. Mediocre players with NO IDEA what they are supposed to be doing. - Martinelli, Pepe and Aubamayeng look decent.
Agree, it is like playing with 1 less.. You can sort of agree with Emery for freezing Ozil out. He is our best paid player, you could not tell!
Good question! However on the flip side, do you think any manager can do anything with this team? We are rudderless at this point. We are in deep doodoo!
Interesting to hear Ljunberg openly demanding the board hurry up and make a decision one way or the other. He's 100% right. Either appoint him caretaker manager until the end of the season (similar to what we did with Sherwood), or appoint a new permanent boss tomorrow. The only logical conclusion to this embarrassing halfway house you're in is that Emery was sacked without first sounding out any potential replacements. Either your shortlist all said 'no thanks', or none of them were asked until Emery's desk was already cleared. Whichever way you slice it, it ain't pretty.
The Kroenkes have this ruling that the club are not allowed to speak to any potential candidates until after a manager's sacking is confirmed. They adopt this same approach with their sports franchises in the US and believe it should also work in the Premier League. They would internally punish anyone who goes against this ruling, apparently. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...ily-Sanllehi-Venkatesham-Edu-Fahmy-Unai-Emery
I keep trying to tell you. We play badly when the defense drops too deep and the midfield gets pinned back. When we cant get the ball to Ozil he disappears. We had the same problem about when Cazorla got injured, before we got Xhaka. Ozil is a #10. He ain't coming back to get the ball, and you don't want him to. Barcelona neve expected Xavi to come back for the ball either. I agree with you all that the defense is the problem, but it isn't the personnel and it isn't the defensive midfield. That is why we are statistically better with Mustafi in there, even though he makes 10 mistakes a game. He likes to push up and he gets the ball forward when he has it. Yeah, he gets caught out as you all like to point out, but it is still better to push up and get beaten occasionally than it is to hang back and allow the opposition time and space, not only to attack us, but also to get back when we have the ball.
God, that was poor. Easy to see why the combined points total of both teams is well short of liiverpool. Arsenal will be happier with the 0-0 given their away form and defensive issues. As for the watching managers, it's hard to say who has the tougher task. Given the expectation level of arsenal fans, probably Arteta.
