Yep, really should have researched HER. Ah your post has been edited to read Jarvis and not Jess Philips
Yes I read it that way at first but I think he is referring to a post I made a few days back about Dan Jarvis MP for Barnsley.
I have heard that he is going to make delaying Brexit illegal, so don’t rule out the hardest of Brexits.
Don’t think that’ll wash. They might get a bit more traction though, when they do what they always do, and blame immigrants and poor people.
Looks like Angela Rayner is set on running for deputy leader to clear the way for her friend Rebecca Long-Bailey to run for leader. Ho hum. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/dec/16/angela-rayner-rebecca-long-bailey-labour
RLB - Corbyn without the beard. If Momentum get their way that's me done with Labour forever . Those of us over 60 won't see a Labour government again.
This election was not about racism, it was about money, power and a lack of trust. There may have been racist elements involved but it was not the core vote generator and I do not believe the majority of the people in this country are racist. People deserted Labour in areas of the country that have been ignored and left to rot for decades, based on the promise that the Tories will bring about a new kind of wealth with Brexit. New investment, and finally for us to be out of the clutches of the nasty EU. Freedom to be able to build a new England with money spreading across the whole country. They voted for a new beginning and a chance to re-build and invigorate the depressed areas they live in. How anyone could fall for that nonsense is beyond me, but they did and the painful truth is that the electorate will now get to see how all those Tory promises evaporate, one by one over the coming months. Four days into this newly elected government and the threats and broken promises are already starting to happen. The power and the money will remain with the elite. The hard right will hold sway and the compassion and care that this country really needs will be as far away as it was before all this happened. This government will not fix the NHS and neither will they re-build the north. Yes there will be some token vanity projects but they won't make any difference to the core problems. Those who voted for the Tories turned their backs on the things that really matter in this country and that is utterly shameful. The only winners in all this are the money grabbers, and the new wave of Tory voters ain't going to be getting very much of it.
If I remember correctly, Jess Phillips increased her majority by 15%, despite being in a leave seat and being pro Remain herself. That takes some doing and shows that she might have what it takes to appeal to the embittered northern voters. I think she would also have a few phrases to put the Tories in their place, and I remember her comment about not trusting any of them to hold her pint. RLB seems to always have a scowl on her face and doesn’t come across as approachable. That in itself could be a vote loser, before you get into policies.
Gove is a better liar than Johnson but what really worries me is that we are in line for a hard Brexit with the way this bunch of toss pots is going.
Changing the subject a bit..........I see unemployment is its lowest since 1975...................That got to be a good thing hasn't it?
Whoa Whoa Beddy. There will be no reporting of good news on this thread. This is the doom and gloom we are totally screwed we may as well give up and die thread.
Probably because the 'Gig Economy' - 'Minimum Wage' and 'Zero Hour Contract' jobs are spreading like wildfire across the country.

Did you see the interview with 2 younguns up Norf on zero hours minimum wage contracts who voted tory thinking permanent jobs and proper housing would come from a Johnson government? Working people in poverty having to rely on food banks and charity to provide any sort of a life. Do you call that a good thing or progress of any sort at all Beddy? ****ed if I do!
