We should get ancelotti in, even if it’s just for 12-18months to steady the ship. We need a safe pair of hands at the moment and he fits the bill perfectly.
I would agree, he has PL experience (PL winning experience too), and has won trophies everywhere he has gone.
The biggest mistake we could make at the moment is to appoint somebody like Arteta, Vieira or Henry. Club legends but totally untested at the top level. We’d just be setting them up to fail. The job at Arsenal at the moment requires a safe pair of hands, somebody who can organise these players into becoming solid as a unit, and somebody who has got a proven track record. Ancelotti would be a perfect short term replacement. If in 12-18 months time when we’ve established some consistency, the club want to hand over the reins to a young manager, fine. But they need to establish the ground work first and that requires somebody with some experience.
I really dont understand why the interest in Vieira - his managerial record is not exactly exciting. at Nice his record is played 59 won 23 drawn 13 lost 23 and before that he was in the MLS which almost doesnt even count as a league.
I would agree - although I would'nt include Arteta there. He may not have the experience but he has learnt under the best. But on the whole i agree - you need to work your way up before getting the big jobs.
As Piskie said, we are not in a position to go for a rookie.. We need someone like Klopp, who has the pedigree, stabilize the ship and move up.. We might have to be a bit more pragmatic and go back to basics all this Arsenal way, needs to stop.. at the moment we need to build from the back, which at the moment is utter shambles!
We've got a decent team, with a peppering of real talent. Like you say, we just need to learn to do the basic things right again. Once we've sured up the defence (and I include the whole team in that, defending from the front) then we can build on it and express ourselves with our flair players.
Cracks me up when pulis being a gills fan. Tony Pulis (Gillingham 1999) Pulis was sacked for gross misconduct by Gillingham following their heart breaking 1999 Division 2 Play Off Final defeat to Manchester City, in a dismissal that ended in court. With Pulis claiming unpaid bonuses and Scally accusing Pulis of attempted blackmail, the case was eventually settled out of court. When Pulis returned to Priestfield last year with his Stoke City team, Scally attempted to ban him from the ground, and was quoted as saying that the only way he would bury the hatchet would be in the Welshman’s head. Pulis for his part waited until moments before kick-off, with the stadium already on its feet, to make his way to the dugout, before stepping onto the pitch to milk the “exceptional” standing ovation from the home support.
Feels abit like Paul Merson has been hired by Sky just a say ****ty things about Arsenal. May be an ex Arsenal player but I cant stand the guy. Total ****ing moron.
Tottenham sack Pochettino and 24 hours later announce Mourinho. Napoli sack Ancelotti and within 24 hours announced Gattuso. Arsenal meanwhile still have no manager three weeks after sacking Emery. We used to be known as the Club who 'did things properly' - now we are just a ****ing mess.
It's a risky one for sure. On the plus side we will almost certainly be moving back to attacking posession based football under Arteta. Wether or not he is ready for a big job like Arsenal or not I dont know. Pep seems to rate him highly.
It's bizarre, why sack Emery and not have a suitable replacement? Surely keeping Emery until a person comes in would be better than what we have now? Strange.
Yeah would be interesting to see how he got on, feel like he might need to be given a lot of time though.
Can't argue with Anchelotti, he is an all-round solid manager. I would even go for Benitez, he too would do a very good interim job. Tactically sound and knows how to organise a defence. Bags of PL experience.
Photos of our management and lawyer leaving Arteta place at 120 am have emerged. So it seems we are going for inexperience! What the **** are we ignoring Ancelotti for !
Smells of desperation. They thought experience didn't work so going for the other routine. Bunch of jokers.
Ancelotti wanted the job last time but we went for Emery instead and seemed to ignore Ancelotti. This time he is available as well and we seem to be ignoring him as an option. No idea what is going on at the club when it comes to picking a Manager.
