Agree the court acted like a North Korean court where the Judges were not impartial. They will be gone and replaced by a fairer system.

This really sums up what I find among left leaning friends and acquaintances, plus some on here.
If you don't share their world view they simply cannot listen to your point of view and patronisingly smirk at you as they explain where you're going wrong.
They can't for the life of them work out what went wrong in the election.
They were at it again on Question Time last night, regurgitating all the old cliches and simply not grasping any vestige of reality.

Imagine if these hardliners ever got into government. Even to contemplate voting for an party opposing theirs would be a Thought Crime, and citizens would be encouraged to report each other to a Stasi equivalent, should anyone be suspected of offending the ideals of the new UK Oceania

What concerned me particularly at QT last night, was Kinnock saying, listen, Labour supporters have to accept that the whole of the media is biased against them

No one challenged this, and the irony is, it wasn't challenged because there were barely any Tory supporters in the Wandsworth audience! I don't know if you noticed when Fiona Bruce asked if there were any Boris supporters present, only one bloke put his hand up - and it turned out he was a Labour voter!

The Guardian, The Independent, The Observer, The Mirror etc are all left leaning. Channel 4 is far out left. BBC has major left wing political programmes like Newsnight where the editor Katz is ex Guardian.

If youngsters incorrectly think the media is 100% against them, they'll take to the streets. Kinnock's statement was dangerous and untrue

I hear this all the time .
Labour aren't Marxist and it's all the fault of the right wing media.
QT, Vine, Marr, Sky news and Channel 4 are all left wing. Yet all the left do is whinge and whine about bias against them.

Is that the Supreme Court created by Tony Blair for Cherie's already obscenely wealthy lawyer friends to make even more money?...

In the end it doesn't really matter whether Labour was defeated by the Brexit factor or the Corbyn one because both will be gone by the time of the next election. For them the bird has flown as far as Brexit is concerned, and it is back where it belonged ie. a purely Tory thing, which Labout can no longer influence. This allows Labour to put the theme behind them, because what is now important is to develop a vision for post Brexit Britain. The Conservatives cannot satisfy all of the wishes of the diverse Brexit camp. People will wake up on Feb. 1st knowing they are out of the EU. but in reality the only thing which will have changed is that we have no representation left in Brussels - we will have become law takers, and not law makers. How long such a situation remains is unclear, but there is a lot of hard negotiation ahead, and a hard Brexit is still, very much, on the cards because the only way Johnson can get a deal so quickly is by giving way to all the EU's demands. Corbyn is right in one thing ie. they should allow time before electing a new leader, because they cannot afford a knee jerk reaction. They need to realize that socialism and realpolitik need to be combined and they need a leader who stands in the middle of those two - they also need a leader who can reconcile the interests of both the intellectual Islington elite and the traditional northern values. The new leader must be able to cultivate a relationship to the media, rather than being afraid of it - like Corbyn was. Looking through the list of possible replacements none of them really stand out (please not Diane Abbott !) - possibly Keith Starmer, possibly Yvette Cooper, but my wish would be David Lammy.

"Kier" Starmer, Cologne, and he's 2-1 to be your next leader, so best get that right!

My own view is that Lammy would be a disaster. He has this masterful way of getting up people's noses. I don't see him as a vote winner. As Sooper says, if Lammy was chosen, Boris would think he'd just died and gone to heaven

The only reason Corbyn is delaying his resignation is so that he can make sure another Momentum pick is elected.

Ok. then Kier Starmer <laugh> By the way he's not 'my leader' I'm a member of Bundnis 90 die Grünen (German Green Party) - I agree that Lammy gets up people's noses, as long as it's the right noses. As a matter of interest who would you choose ?

Looking at the runners and riders Starmer is the only one who looks the part but there's likely to be a clamour for a female leader. Bearing in mind Momentum will be heavily involved Starmer and Thornberry may find it difficult, whoever it is will have a massive job on their hands as it is possibly a poisoned chalice much in the way it was when Blair won in 97 for the Tory successor...

If I was a Labour supporter, the candidate I'd go for is the Wigan MP, Lisa Nandy. She talks good, old fashioned common sense, and is grounded with working class priorities. She'd win a lot of the lost Labour votes back.

But she's not part of the Momentum cult, so she hasn't got a chance.
