Big rumour Daddy Stroll is looking to buy into Aston Martin and in turn rename Racing point to Aston Martin!
No sir, they don't like 'em. The new 2020 Pirelli tyres that the teams asked for have been rejected by... errrr... the teams. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/50726067
Interesting that Hass agreed to reject the 2020 tyres. You would have thought they might take a risk as they know they don't understand current tyres!!!!! Hopefully that means they know where their 2019 tyres issues come from and may have a better 2020 car?
The problem is the teams have already designed the cars on the 2019 tyres. Why would they want to fork out time and money on the 2020 spec. Also the 2021 spec is around the corner. Why is it left so late? Happened this year too when the teams wanted to use the 2018 tyres (except Mercedes who got a head start on it)
You hit the nail on the head Brando. Why anyone would alter the hard work of research and design that’s been happening for months on the 2020 cars in the final year of regulations is beyond me. Another FIA/Pirelli mess. They need to get the 2021 tyres spot on though.
That is a biggie. What have the FIA specified that the tyres should be? All compounds last a whole race, or a single stop mandated? Try and see if they can make tyres have a cliff at end of life, have a wide temp window, make most circuits 2 stops? Anyone know what mandate Pirelli have been given by FIA?
I've always wondered about the feasibility of a mixed compound. The more it wears down the harder the rubber gets so the less grip you have. Give the teams the choice, slow and steady or use fresh sticky tyres.
Maybe they should go back to having different compounds on a car? Back in the 80's/90's cars could run with difference compounds front/back, left/right side. Made for some interesting strategies!
Ferrari starting to stir the pot for 2021............. Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari chief admits talks with world champion https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/50755301
It also potentially pushes up Lewis's fee from Merc! Which doesn't help Merc staying in F1 as Totto suggested Merc are trying to reduce spending! So maybe Ferrari just doing it to hurt Merc in a little way?
It's funny, they can't strategise themselves out of a wet paper bag in a race but they are very good at it the rest of the time.
Some classic mind games going on here. And its almost win win. Either actually convince Hamilton to sign or stir up some distrust between him and Mercedes (or both). I'm expecting the media to jump on this now too with more gusto any moment Lewis goes near the colour Red or eats Pasta.
I don't think Charles will feel under threat, and I think he'll continue to move forward next season. As for Vettel, will it focus him in a positive way, and he proves his doubters wrong? Or will it rattle him and he proves his doubters right? Could be a bumper year for Ferrari's carbon fibre supplier.
I will go on record now as saying , IMHO , Vettel won’t be driving for Ferrari 3 races at least before the end of next season . If he starts it at all .
I think he will start it, I think it is his last season. He has something to prove, he will not want to leave sheepishly after this season.
