Obviously our parachute payments will help this season and to a lesser extent in 2020/21.

However, it stresses the need for strong financial management and hopefully we learned from previous experiences. Nevertheless it becomes an ever tougher act for those clubs who never get promoted.

It also brings into focus the need to produce home grown players and sell them on at handsome profits. Despite Swans fans concerns over their owners, the £40m received from the sales of James and McBurnie should stand them in good stead as not spent on new players. Although from what I have seen the Yanks may well have indulged in some creative accounting to syphon a lot of that money back out of the club.

This is a huge problem that threatens even the "established" higher echelon clubs.

It's a monster of our own creation with clubs seeking the glory and financial rewards of the Premier League. It's been fuelled by the disproportionate distribution of the massive wealth from the various televised rights.

Root and branch reorganisation required to head off some major catastrophies.

Problem is ego’s take over with clubs loving to flex their financial muscle.

The money is obscene but at the end of the day who pays for a lot of it? Yes us by subscribing to Sky and Amazon and BT.

Its where i see the noises Harris is making as being positive.
Trim the size of the squad and save money.
Promote accademy players and save more money, possibly generating money.
Its the right way forward even if we have to settle in mid table in the championship for a few seasons to consolidate.

Now I may be well wrong about this but after this big loss season, we went up and had a huge income increase with, surely, not such a big cost increase? That should be a big profit in this year. Then we dropped back to the same sort of costs as the year before but with parachute payments to make up the deficit in income. If we manage our way down slowly, we should be OK. Not like the local cousins.

    " from what I have seen... "

Pray tell, what exactly have you seen ? Had access to "some creative accounting " have you ? On a mailing list, perhaps ?

We’ll let the court decide if it has to be paid or not

Just read the posts on your board from time to time Vetch. There have been concerns as to what the yanks have done with the transfer funds received. Not apparently reinvested in the team. If the money has stayed in the business then you are unlikely to have FFP concerns. However........
