Birch was only brought into the club to do one thing. Cut costs and get it ready for a sale. With a bit of luck these yanks will have ****ed off next season.

    Let’s hope so anyway.

Swansea City Under-23s lead coach Gary Richards has left his role at the club.

Richard departs after a long-running association with Swansea City, and is expected to officially reunite with Cameron Toshack at Cypriot top-flight club Pafos FC.

Richards, 56, spent the last four years working alongside Toshack as joint under-23s lead coach.

Swansea City chairman Trevor Birch said: “Everyone at Swansea City would like to thank Gary for his fantastic service to the club over the years and wish him well for the future.”

Richards started his career at Swansea City, where he became an academy graduate before turning pro in 1981.

He made 84 appearances in all for the Swans before leaving for Swedish side Jankopings Sodra. He also featured for Lincoln City, Cambridge United, Torquay United, Newport County, Llanelli, Saltash United, Forest Green Rovers, Barry Town and Haverfordwest County.

After retiring, Richards worked as a postman for Royal Mail in Swansea, while also being involved with Swansea Schoolboys, Swansea Bravehearts and the Swans’ centre of excellence.

He joined the Swans Academy on a full-time basis in August 2011 as lead coach of the youth development phase before working alongside Toshack with the under-23s.
