Fair points if correct. I used one example that came to mind, there have been many. Both sides have used underhand tactics. It's how elections work.

I think the vitriol and hatred shown by many of Corbyn's supporters towards Brexit supporters, 'gammon' etc. is worrying if he were to get in power.

True, but I think the whole gammon/boomer thing stems from the younger generation. They get called "snowflake" or "soy boy" or some other term and are expected to deal with it, but call somebody a boomer or gammon and they fly off the handle. The one that annoys me is "you can't do ___________ without being called racist." or,the much more common, "suppose I'm a racist for having an opinion."

Only if your opinion is racist, pal.

Fair enough....I think modern politics is in a sad state for all sides. I'm only trying to wind you up :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I listen to a few podcasts (and this is aimed at everyone). I was listening to a Joe Rogan one with Kyle Kylnski (check spelling). Anyway, his idea was direct democracy in that every GE you also put 3-5 issues to the public in a referendum at the same time......thoughts?

Personally I think its great. Easy to implement and a way towards more democracy to help steer the ship. Thoughts.

    I really like Joe Rogan.

Yeah, that's a pretty decent idea and would give parties a better idea of what people actually want, instead of assuming what they want. Then people are voting for what they chose, rather than options from a menu.

But it's far too much like socialism to ever be allowed...

I appreciate things like this will be lost on the Labour Moonies but Corbyn did nothing about child abuse

    ****.....am I a socialist?

I may need to rethink my whole existence.

Personally, I would like to see more democracy, every 4 yrs or via tech and do mini referendums online. It must be possible. I just want smaller government.

I think online voting would really reach out to the tech generation, but it would be so prone to hacking, they just wouldn't risk it. The use of bots is a concern already, as is foreign interference. I signed up for Youtube Premium using a VPN to India, which meant I can get it for £1.02 a month. I'm the worst person ever.

Are you still in Southampton? If so any truth on the rumours that hundreds of youngsters have been sent away because they had no ID or polling cards?
