People were saying it couldn't be any worse if we got rid of Ross and it has been. Certainly could be worse with Phillips, might not be like but no guarantees either way. He's been out of work since Jan of this year and no other club has offered him a managers job. The only reason he gets mentioned by our lot is because of what he achieved as a player. If he had that goal scoring record anywhere else do you think people would still want him?

Athletic players? Never realised we had any. Wingers consist of Gooch, a perma-broke Watmore and a slow as **** McGeady. Great options. And even if we were capable of playing how you say, and I'm not convinced we can,who is going to score as Grigg and Wyke have both been canny ****e. We don't have a very good squad of players and sacking manager after manager is deck chair rearranging while the ship sinks imo.

I wasn't. We were grinding out results with Ross and I felt that get to January and get some decent players in and we'd be alright.

I don't see how it could get worse than Parkinson though seeing as we're losing every game and if he'd been in charge from the start of the season we'd be in the bottom three.

I'd play the team that beat Tranmere or as close to it as possible. Hume, Watmore, Gooch and Dobson should all be playing for me and slow arses like Leadbitter shouldn't. You can only polish a turd so far but you can have a try at least. The team that won 5-0 had something about it.

I know, you said, but it doesn't make it true. Gooch has been injured since that Tranmere game so he's been unavailable and Watmore is still in the process of recovering his confidence after a really bad time with injuries. And we have no-one in the squad capable of coming into the team in their place and providing a similar input, which sort of rules out playing that way. I never wanted Ross gone either as I thought he was over achieving with the players he had at his disposal. By the same measure, I think Parky is under acheiving. Having said all that, I still think the biggest problem is the squad is canny ****e, lacks power, athleticism and pace and I'm hoping we can at least get some players in with those qualities in January.

Not a fan of Wyke but with him, McNulty, Kimpy, Gooch, Watmore, O/9, Hume, plus Dobson, Power, Robson, Embleton and Grant we should get through to the transfer window without the three amigo's no bother imo..

The fans would have more patience with Phillips. Nee doubt about it.

It is true though, what's worse than relegation form?

I agree the main issue by some distance is that the players aren't good enough.

I think the fact that discipline appears to have been a problem since Parkinson came suggests that things can't be any worse. He clearly wasn't a universally popular choice amongst the squad and, while the players should knuckle down no matter who is in charge, it seems basic to me do some homework regarding the mix of characters within the squad and the type of manager that might work well with them.

He could be getting the same results and be relegation form, so maybes not worse but could be equally as bad. It's an unknown quantity, regardless of how you personally think about it.

Is that a fact or your opinion? I'll agree he wasn't popular amongst the fans but heard nowt regarding how players see him. As for the rest, do you think there were much better options than Parky making themselves available for the job? I think it would have benn a much of a muchness tbh and no-one that we employed was going to get the juices flowing. Phillips maybes just because of his stature as a former player but fans turn fast and I would hate to see him get the gig and have a **** run of form and see the fans turn on him.

It doesn't get any worse than relegation form and thereafter relegation but if you want to think that's my personal opinion go ahead.

It's an observation based on the evidence that has been presented in this and other threads. No, I don't think there were many other options.

I know we are in relegation form currently and as I've said, I think Parkinson is underachieving. But apart from Phillips being a really good player for us in the past, I don't know wether he'd do any better than Parkinson. I'd like to hope and think he would but there's been too few high spots following Sunderland and I'd hate to see him get tarnished by taking us on as his first managerial role and ****ing it up, as he was one of the much brighter parts of my time following us. I know fans say he'd be given time and while I certainly think that's true of some, others would be wanting him booted and replaced if he had this sort of form. I'd rather us stick with a manager no-one really likes till at least Jan, see if some players who are possibly disruptive shipped out and a few with a good team ethic who don't chuck their toys out the pram brought in. If we can do that sort of transfer business and Parkinson is still totally ****e, sack him then.

Fair enough. I'm more inclined to think that a couple of players have tossed their toys out the pram than he's lost the dressing room tbh. Sadly, I don't think there were many other options either and I can understand the thinking behind going for him, even if it has been spectacularly **** up to now.
