I always use the symbol *. I know what it is ...

I don't think I have ever written the actual word for *. Why would you write it out if you can just use *.

When I saw the actual word rather than the symbol being used in a contract I was taken by surprise as I have never written the word myself.

They actually out a * next to a section and then responded in review comments .

Asterisk: check and validate point 3.5b

I'm surprised you're employed and even more surprised that you're looking over legal documents.

You use the actual word a lot when providing quotes ?

I thought you would write * next to a price and then in small print :

    * Does not include parts, labour or VAT

*Even though I'm Staunch as ****, this shed won't be built by the British as I prefer to dodge tax with illegal labour.

If I was writing the symbol for an asterisk, there would be 6 bits coming out of the middle, as opposed to the 5 parts coming out of the typed version. This is very interesting indeed. I would start by drawing a line from North West to South East, then a line from North East to South West and finally a line from North to South, hence there would be 6 parts/lines coming from/meeting in the centre of the asterisk. This, of course, is assuming that the top of the page is North.

How do you guise do yours?

We don't use * or an asterisk when providing shed quotes.

I'm just astounded that a man in his mid-40s didn't know that an * was called an asterisk and especially one who, despite being corrupted by the Roman faith, always seemed fairly intelligent compared to others on here (realise that is an extremely low bar to set).

Next you'll be telling me that you didn't know that to get a ° symbol, you have to type Alt + 0176 or just hold down the 0 on an £115pm iPhone 11.

I knew it was called an asterisk...I call it an asterisk , say it's an asterisk.

Just hadn't realised the spelling ! I just type or write *

Had never thought about the spelling before today .

Too much stuff on a burger takes away from the taste of the actual burger asterisk.

Asterisk unless it's a meat free burger , the more the better .
