What we really need is our premier league experienced players not to be injured. Losing our best defender for the season has hit us hard. Not that I'm disagreeing with your point, mind.
Klose is no Huth, Rob. Hanley somewhat more so, but without the huge frame or same level of experience and quality. Also, the last two games have highlighted the fact that our defensive problems are not confined to CB.
Well, with respect, the stats for that season don't bear you out. You only conceded 36 goals all season, bettered by only two clubs (Spurs and Man Utd) and then only by one goal. Also, I've listened to a lot of the players involved giving "how we did it" interviews, and to a man they highlight the time Ranieri spent on the training pitch in pre-season schooling them defensively. Clearly Huth contributed hugely (sic) to your being solid; he and Wes Morgan had the best season of their lives.
Im not comparing you to our title winning season. It was our first year in the prem im comparing you to
Yes, I realise your original post was about the first season back, under Pearson. But you then disputed what I said about Ranieri's priorities when he took over. Never mind, one thing's for sure, we won't be signing 2 or 3 experienced top flight players in a bid to escape relegation. We did that last time under Alex Neil, were still relegated, and a year later were facing financial meltdown. If we buy in January it will young players with the potential to improve us next year rather than this.
