Goes to show that our problems are at both ends of the pitch. Successive away games vs Arsenal and Newcastle where we've thrown away the lead (not good enough at the back) after having the chances to have scored so many more (not good enough at the other end).
Playing better but we can’t rely on Danny and Prowsey for all our goals More than enough opportunities to win this but no one else can score
Decent performance, disappointing result. For all the criticism of McCarthy or our defence, it was our poor decision making/finishing in the final third that cost us. I love Shane’s effort, but I think I’d look more likely to get a goal.
At least we are competitive in games now. The press is back, and 442 is working. Was 95% certain we were going down a few weeks ago, now I'm 50/50 on it.
Newcastle up into the top half. Comfortably going along at more than a point a game. Same distance from the top 4 as they are from the relegation. No home defeats since the opening day. One defeat in their last seven matches. And no doubt their fans still won't be happy.
Negative moan- we are really poor in defence and have a real mental fragility in the last 10 mins of any game, (we nearly blew it against Norwich, and threw it away against Arsenal.) We literally can screw up any result in injury time and cannot see a game to bed. But... -Ings is amazing, and always a threat -It's really tight in the bottom half and our last 2 results have really got us back in the mix. -Our relegation rivals seem to like losing too. The West ham game is looking like another 6 pointer
yes, this is where I am. (but by wearing my super-positivity sandals, this turns into definitely staying up)
Was 95% certain we were going down a few weeks ago, now I'm 50/50 on it. --------------------- Keeping it exciting. Or. Helping the hope kill.
Just seen the highlights Bertrand's miss is awful Shelvey's goal, he should be tracked into the box and is let go (missed who by) Winning goal - yes McCarthy parries but it is more criminal how so many Saints players did not follow it back into the box, whilst 3 Newcastle players followed up for the rebound
Agreed, though I also have a sneaking suspicion that Berty was offside. Should still have finished it of course.
6 points from 9 against the teams we’d consider to be around us... if we had to select which of those three games to lose, I’d have chosen away to Newcastle. No disaster. As fans we need to suck it up deep and move on to the next one. Two or three similar games coming up. 4 points would be just ok, 6 or would be good.
He ran straight past Redmond, who didn’t react until Shelvey was already gone. In all honesty I expected Shelvey and Carroll to combine for a goal, just not in that way.
