I voted but I dont think the list is extensive enough - there are other managers with PL experience that are available:

    Tony Pulis
    Harry Redknapp
    Sam Allardyce
    David Moyes
    George Graham
    David O'Leary
    Tony Adams

    to name seven...….

Like I said on the other thread I would prefer a manager with a track record of competing at the TOP level.

There's a risk with getting an inexperinced manager or a manager from a mid table Club - that they just wont ever be able to hit that required.

Soo I would go Allegri, Erik Ten HAG, Anchelotti and possible Pochettino (although he's never won anything) as my preferred choices

Saying this though I am excited to see what Ljungeberg does with the lineup tomorrow.

    From that list of players:

Who I think would improve us - Ten Haag, Rodgers, Benitez

Who I'm on the fence about - Pochettino (only because it'd be so soon after leaving Spurs), Ancelotti, Nuno, Allegri

Who I think would be too risky - Arteta, Viera, Howe

Benitez is one of the most underrated managers out there. He had a **** spell at Real Madrid and his time at Inter was cut short, but aside from that, he's won pretty much everything there is to win. He's one of the very few managers who has proven he can do a good job at both the top level and the lower levels of English football. What he did at Newcastle was nothing short of miraculous given he was starved of investment.

He is also Premier League proven and would do a far better job than many names that have been suggested.

Back in his Liverpool days I always thought he was over-rated and I also think he lived on the back of that Champions League win for several Seasons.

Much like Emery he would constantly tinker and change shape/lineup. His strength is that his sides normally did well tactically in the big games.

The main thing for me though is..(and I used to argue this point back on the old 606 board) He hoards players - he spends alot of money on big squads full of mediocre players.

At Liveropool he signed a record number (something like 50 players - even at Newcastle he signed 29<yikes>). He signed soo many players during a fairly short spell at Liverpool that amounted to nothing...

    Milan Jovanovic
    Daniel Ayala
    Jack Hobbs
    Gabriel Paletta
    Andriy Voronin
    Diego Cavalieri
    Philipp Degen
    Mark Gonzalez
    Jan Kromkamp
    Nabil El Zhar
    Scott Carson
    Alberto Aquilani
    Sotirios Kyrgiakos
    Mauricio Pellegrino
    Antonio Nunez
    Andrea Dossena
    Emiliano Insua
    David N’Gog
    Albert Riera
    Lucas Leiva
    Jermaine Pennant

I could go on.. literally the king of poor signings.

in fairness some of them did OK and Lucas ended up a pretty important player totalling just short of 350 games .

But yep Rafa liked to pack the squad with lots of £3-5m signings that came and went with no one ever noticing <laugh>

It's worth noting that a lot of those players were also signed during the period where you nearly went into administration and you had financial troubles.

Also, at Arsenal, he wouldn't be the one making the signings because we have a different structure; Edu, Fahmy and Sanllehi would get the players in, Benitez would have to work on improving them.

The football may be a bit dull, but I feel Benitez could be very good for us with the position we're in.

Not sure Benitez does improve players as such more he organises the team so they at least know what they required to do .
Personally cannot see Rafa and you ending well & doubt he is under serious consideration tbh .

It really doesn't matter. As long as the toxic nature of the club remains, between manager, board, fans, players, it is an impossible job for any manager.

Of those, the hardest to fix is going to be the fans, you can't sack them. I notice Sokratis is their new target. It really has stopped being remotely justifiable. Over the years players being targeted has picked up speed. There is barely any gap between one player and the next now. I noticed in the condemnation, several commenters/tweeters actually said they thought, in the past, Mustafi had been wrongly blamed for Sokratis' mistakes!

Now I am not saying whether they were right or wrong. But if you have that level of doubt after the event, how certain were you when you were laying into Mustafi and destroying his career in the first place?

You can't play professional football well if you are scared you will lose your livelihood. Until we end the toxic atmosphere at the club, towards the players in particular, we will keep declining. My vote is to Keep Freddie Ljungberg in, until we can somehow improve the atmosphere and end the cycle of blame, finger-pointing and recrimination. That is the real challenge we face, not the selection of a new victim for manager.

all gone relatively quiet on the arsenal manager front.

no idea who will come in at this point. Nuno seems to have dropped out. some people saying Ljungberg is a serious candidate. Saw some stories that we are concentrating on candidates who are 'available' first.

I believe Luis Enrique has always been the boards top choice. He is close friends with Raul Salhelli - and he fits the profile in terms of attacking style of football. They were hoping he might come this Janaury but he's gone back to his role as the Spanish National team coach.

Does anyone have an idea who we might bring in?

I seriously cannot see anyone wanting the job. We are in such a mess it would be so difficult to turn us around.

I know you will all laugh, but I actually think someone like Big Sam until the end of the season might be good to steady the ship and possibly even teach our defenders how to defend. Might make us more appealing to a possible summer appointment.

This post is ridiculous on so many levels. Surely that’s a wum? Big Sam? <laugh>

    Lay off the pipe buddy!

We are still one of the most attractive job prospects in world football. Not the same draw as the very top teams but on the level just below. Big wage, London lifestyle, decent money for transfers and wages, job in the premier league, great stadium but a mixed bag of players currently underperforming. Most would want the job.

i think we were looking at Jose and Spurs did what they did to stop us getting him in, so our board should have acted more swiftly.

so let’s not lose out again on a target and it will mean the board has to act swiftly and go all out for Poch or Allegri.

Poch has the PL experience and is a top coach so why not. Allegri was in the mix last time and is interested in the job.

anyone else apart from those 2 is a NO from me

I know it sounds funny, but I’m actually not wumming.

right now the only two managers available are allegri and poch. I don’t think we will get either of those.

I also don’t think we will grab a manager that is currently employed.

thus we are left with Freddie. I don’t think he knows what he is doing; I would never take Big Sam for longer than 6 months, but in that timeframe, he could reorganize us and teach the players how to play their proper position. (As well as get us to actually defend).

Allegri is available and I think would definitely be interested in the job.

Porch is available and tbh I’m not sure he is the answer and is less likely to take the job due to his spurs affiliation but would be an alright option.

There’s also several who I imagine wouldn’t have a huge compensation to sign.

Ancelotti for me is a great option.

Big Sam is nowhere near what we need. He might be alright at organising a defence but plays atrocious long ball football and kills all creativity which means if the defence isn’t quite working you become relegation fodder. It would be catastrophically bad management to bring him in. Can’t believe any arsenal fan is even contemplating that as a direction for the club...

If we were interested in Jose then the club are ridiculously incompetent to miss out. He would have picked us over Spurs any day given the choice. Not that I think we were necessarily in for him and not that I think he would have been the right choice especially given his history with Arsenal.

Porch seems a good coach but doesn’t seem to be able to push a team over the line. I’d give him a shot though but not entirely convinced by him.

Allegri would be a good option. I’d also take ancelotti. These two for me should be the names in the mix.
