The LibDems have also messed up with their anti democratic message of completely dismissing the referendum result. Even many 'remainers' are extremely uncomfortable with that stance although Swinson ending up as PM was always considered a fantasy. They may even struggle to maintain their present parliamentary numbers. No sign of a 'third way' yet, maybe it will take the break up of the Labour Party to achieve this.

More likely to be a realisation by the Labour Party that they need to do pacts with the other parties in the future...
And then that right wing party will never get back in...
    Yes that sounds good

It looks like the Conservatives will remain the UK's favourite political party, the natural party for government.

In its desperation will the Labour Party continue to use material obtained by agents from the Kremlin?

I wouldn't want to talk much about Russian interference in UK politics if I was in your position SH. There is that report hidden from MPs about such matters, then there is the well reported fact of Russians paying into Tory party funds.

Is that supposed to be a joke or is it a personal attack? You can guess what will happen if it is the later.

A snap YouGov poll has found Boris Johnson performed better than his rival, Corbyn, in last nights live debate. This was probably Labour's last chance to turn the polls around to its advantage.

Due to the hundreds of thousands who voted ‘Leave’ having now themselves departed (by shuffling off their mortal and racist coils) the majority of this country now want to remain. But to hell with democracy, eh?!

E-mail doing the rounds over here where the Tories are begging for funds. Seems that their appeals to fund the election have fallen far short of what they hoped for. They say in it that they have run out of money to pay for more Facebook advertising and may not be able to print more leaflets. As one might guess the sympathy is not high, in fact it seems to be rather the opposite. I guess that SH should not have thrown thoses raffle tickets in the bin. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

The Tories have raised record amounts this election, the substantial lead in the polls indicate the funds are working well. Faced with the prospect of a marxist Labour government it is understandably easy to see why so many contribute to such a good cause.

Support for Scottish independence has plummeted in the latest poll. The figures are now close to those in the last referendum. There is also less support for a Scottish independence referendum in the next five years.

Time to rebuild Hadrians Wall. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

It is the remainers that are saying to hell with democracy but not accepting the referendum.

I'll guess that we'll still want to leave.

Not that it matters. A democratic vote happened, so we need to make sure that we leave the European Union, so democracy can prevail.

Democracy is not something which only happens once in a lifetime Saffy, it is an ongoing thing - which means that it allows for changes of opinion. It would be very undemocratic to leave the EU if the people were against it at the time of leaving, which I believe to be the case. All those so called 'lovers of democracy' become very much less 'democratic' when the principle of PR is introduced as a topic. For decades the British have lived under a system where 60+% of votes are irrelevant - so a party claims a 'majority' based on only about 35-40% of the vote, and the rest don't matter. With a proper PR system in place Thatcher would never have ravaged Britain's industry, Britain would not have been in Iraq, and the Brexit referendum would never have happened.

My son in law voted to leave the EU, but has just voted for a remain party. He reasoned that he couldn't bring himself to support either of the two main parties in part because of the two leaders, but mainly because this is not a single issue, but something that will affect the population in every way for the next five years. Are we to say that he shouldn't be allowed to make that decision? On Brexit he has no regrets on changing his mind as he has found out more about what it means. He is not taken in by slogans, but has seen the figures on the NHS, the police numbers, the environment, and just doesn't believe what is being pumped out. MPs are no different to my son in law and need to look at the evidence. You cannot hold them to vote for something that they can see is bad and wrong for the country.
