... so talk to us. It appears that, once again, you're having a pop at us. Will you be in the Gillingham pubs so we can have a chat?
He's causing big arguments at the SOL, saying him and Donald should be left alone to run the club and telling employees to keep their nose out. They've backed themselves into a corner and are lashing out.
He's trying to keep people in the dark about the takeover, insulting the supporters, enforcing NDA's about everything ... ... now he's had a big row with a group of Sunderland supporters and scarpered. Any mention of the meeting is instantly deleted from RTG. I doubt we'll see him at Gillingham, if he's there it might get nasty.
Whereas everyone else goes into work, marches straight into the bosses office and tell him/her what's going to be done today. The said boss then rolls over and concedes control of the business. (An attempt to introduce a note of levity which MAY NOT be 100% successful). Whether we like it or not, Football is a business, similar in most respects to any other. The bit that is different is that the customers claim an emotional ownership and the employee's are usually also customers. This, barely acknowledged fact has made me wonder for many years why anybody in their right mind might want to own a football club. However turning against the owners is unlikely to improve things, anymore than booing the players does.
"However turning against the owners is unlikely to improve things." It's more that the owners are turning against the owners tbh. This will all come out soon enough and I doubt Methven will be able to talk his way out of it. We're not the gullible dopes he obviously sees us as.
I saw this mentioned on facebook put it on rtg it was gone this morning, how much influence do they have on a fans forum?
As I recall you were first into print, on this Board, with the Takeover/Investment news, so I willingly concede that you are likely to know far more about what's going on behind the scenes that a mere fan like me, but as our friends up the road have discovered, slagging off the owner, however justified, and despite it making you feel better, rarely, if ever, achieves anything. In fact hurling abuse at the current owner might just put any potential new owner off. As for the Owner and your comment that I've highlighted, perhaps someone should remind him of the very wise words from the days when the US of A elected honest men as President. According to Mr Lincoln, 'You can fool ALL of the people SOME of the time, and SOME of the people ALL of the time, but you can't fool ALL of the people ALL of the time.'
I've got no inside knowledge whatsoever. My gut feeling is that Charlie and Stewie could have passed our club on to the Yanks, if they really wanted too. I now don't believe them about having the best interests of the club at heart. I see them as focusing on what they can make from the club. I've also got a horrible feeling that they're covering something up at the club, hence the silence and short tempers that we are beginning to see from the owners, mainly Charlie.
If what I've heard is true, can't see Charlie frequenting many pubs on matchdays etc for the foreseeable.
Personal reasons relate to his family - he and his wife are expecting a baby in the New Year - and his other business interests. #safc
