West Bromwich Albion v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - The Hawthorns
    Date - 8 December 2019
    Kick off - Noon

Following their disappointing home 1-2 defeat to fellow promotion hopefuls Fulham - their 5th loss at The Liberty this season - next up for the Swans is a trip to the Midlands to play top of the table West Brom.

Against Fulham, Mitrovic, the Championship's leading scorer, took his Fulham tally this season to 15 goals thanks to two first-half strikes.

The powerful Serb headed his team in front on 22 minutes and then doubled their advantage with a cool finish shortly before half-time.

Swansea were unfortunate to be two goals down having been the better side for long periods, and they deservedly got back into the game through George Byers' 65th-minute header.

But Fulham, who are third in the table, held on to close the gap on second-placed Leeds, while Swansea remain sixth.

On Monday evening, Charlie Austin's controversial 90th-minute penalty sent West Bromwich Albion back to the top of the Championship as they snatched a last-gasp victory at Preston.

Preston were adamant keeper Declan Rudd had not touched Baggies substitute Kyle Edwards but referee Oliver Langford pointed to the spot and Austin slotted home to send Albion two points above Leeds.

The spot-kick gave West Brom a fifth successive victory but they left it late at Deepdale as injury-hit Preston, without a host of players including their entire first-choice back line, looked set to earn a point.

Instead, Alex Neil's men saw their unbeaten home record ended and they remain sixth, just inside the play-off places but 11 points behind the table-topping Baggies.

The Swans have played the Baggies on 43 previous occasions, winning 18, losing 16 and drawing the other 9.

Turning to Sunday, I can see nothing other than a home win with the Swans losing the only unbeaten away record in the EFL. 3-1 to the Baggies. <cheers>

I feel we are going to be on the end of a hammering in this one.
Not much confidence about the team at the moment despite a decent performance against Fulham.
3 goal vistory for WBA, but would love to be extremely misguided.

I’m going for an optimistic 1-1, we’ve always done well at West Brom.

Difficult game but I’m confident that at least a draw and best a win so it’s a 1-1 or a very decent 1-2 COYs

On the basis you win when you least expect it, WBA 1 Swansea 3.

    Yes, I'm a bit mad.

Start of a long hard month.
This month Cooper has to be on the ball.
Back to this game 3-0 Baggies.
I base that on an early kick off and blame the International break and Cooper being voted manager of the month a while back.
Nothing at all to do with the way we are playing.

Another good write up.Thank you Taff.Keep em coming.

    Edit......and blame unlucky yellow kit.

.... 1 September 2013 was our last victory there.

Since then 3 defeats (including last season‘s 3-0 defeat - see below) and 2 draws

WBA in good form so difficult to see anything but a home win so sad to predict a 2-1 home win

Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has confirmed that forward Aldo Kalulu is available for selection ahead of Sunday's trip to West Bromwich Albion.

The Basel loanee has been sidelined since August, after picking up an ankle injury in the clash at Derby County, but could now be handed a return against the high-flying Baggies, along with Nathan Dyer, who's also been declared fit.

Meanwhile, Wayne Routledge is expected to miss out after picking up a small calf problem. He joins long-term absentees Joe Rodon and Jordon Garrick on the sidelines.

I'm in Benidorm for a couple of weeks so watching from afar. I know we play a b it better away from home but WBA are a class above us at this time due to our poor form and clueless manager and I hope things change for him, I doubt it but I hope so all the same or the club must replace him. I think W B A will put 3 past us with a comfortable win. Sadly.

Now now .... take care that you are not speaking too soon, after all Leeds Utd has a tendency to be like a Tablecloth - they slip down at the end .... <cheers>
