    I've just remembered, I have a Billy Bragg album on musicassette tape. It was bought for me by a dopey, but well wishing relative. Had I known I would have suggested buying the vinyl and a blank tape. The blank tape would almost certainly have been of better quality, and I almost certainly have obtained a better quality transfer while recording it. Having said all that, I bought a hi-fi cassette deck last Sunday. 2nd hand, of course, but I'm assured it is very good condition. A Yamaha KX-200 from 1988. This was just to mop up all the old recordings I still haven't transferred to digital, and that can't be obtained any other way.

    Anyway, you want a track, not a monologue. How about one from The Police? Sychronicity II. Much as I've never been keen on Sting, the quality of Andy Summers, and Stuart Copeland shines through here. Copeland being one of my favourite drummers. Actually, it's a great song:

    Stevie Ray Vaughan's take on Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing. For me, this one comes closest to that delicate cool that was the original:


    Incidentally, I find the Clapton version unlistenable.
