  2. Any info on what this means? Is it a access route (road/walkway) that will be lined with 96 trees...?

Or just possible a walkway with trees either side named after the tragedy or with reference to it on the ground possibly?

Depends how log it is to see if you can get 48 trees down each side.

Yeah, possibly a plaque at the foot of each tree with their name/info on or something. Be a nice touch and a permanent reminder, not that anyone will ever forget.

    Hillsborough Memorial
The Hillsborough Memorial would be relocated behind a covered brick colonnade beneath the north end edge of the podium. The niche housing the memorial would be clad in lighter sandstone backdrop, with space for a significant public art panel. The public realm design immediately in front would reinforce the notion of a semi-private space for reflection and contemplation to one side of the main external crowd flows.
The design has been developed in consultation with the Hillsborough Families Support Group, and an artist would be commissioned to work alongside the design team and HFSG. It is anticipated that this collaboration would result in an intervention that interprets and weaves the Hillsborough story into the fabric of the building.

Tree grove backdrop creates a park edge character and wider setting for the memorial

  10. Much appreciate pal, have some rep <ok>

That seems like it will just be a selection of trees rather than 96 trees. Probably for the best that way as it could create future complications having one for each victim <ok>

Intention is to make Anfield Road End a 16,000 seat stand. If planning application is successful after public consultation, it would mean The Kop is the smallest stand in the stadium. (Dominic King)

Liverpool remain on course to notch up almost £100million per season from match day activities after pressing on with plans to make Anfield the third largest ground in the Premier League.

Liverpool's proposed expansion of Anfield Road will not require a loan from club owners Fenway Sports Group. FSG are not lending money to the club for the expansion, with the credit being sourced locally at Anfield. (Echo)

First-stage consultation closes on proposed Anfield Road expansion

Liverpool Football Club has thanked residents and supporters for their contributions and feedback on the first phase of consultation on the proposed Anfield Road expansion.

The consultation closed at midnight on December 13 and received more than 800 responses to the initial plans that were shared across six drop-in events held at Anfield on both matchdays and non-matchdays, and via an online hub.

The events provided local residents and representatives, businesses and fans with an opportunity to view the early-stage plans, talk to those involved in the project, and to share their views.

Andy Hughes, the club’s chief operating officer, said: “The whole aim of sharing these initial proposals was to receive as much feedback as possible.

“The club is committed to finding the best possible solution for the proposed Anfield Road Stand expansion and we’re now in a position where we can consider all of this valuable feedback to develop our plans ahead of our second phase of consultation in the New Year.”

A second stage of consultation is planned in early 2020, where the club will present its detailed plans.

Liverpool FC: Studies examine plan for new Anfield rail station

Studies have been commissioned to consider building a new railway station next to Liverpool FC's Anfield stadium.

The idea has been mooted for many years but the club's recent plans to further expand the ground have renewed calls for better transport links.

The closest existing stations are Bank Hall and Kirkdale, which are both about 30 minutes away on foot.

The council-ordered studies will look at redeveloping a current freight-only route to accommodate passenger trains.

Bootle branch line is currently only open to goods vehicles and is the main rail entry and exit point for the Port of Liverpool.

Speaking to Liverpool City Council's environment and climate change select committee, Councillor Liam Robinson said: "The feasibility work has now been commissioned.

"Mixing passenger and freight traffic can prove difficult, but that does not mean it can not be done.

"You would probably need to electrify that line and we would then look at what stations there would need to be."
    'Real demand'
The latest proposed expansion of the stadium would see 7,000 seats added to the stadium's Anfield Road end, raising the total capacity to 60,000.

Tuebrook and Stoneybrook councillor Joe Dunne said a station could help ease traffic problems caused by a greater influx of fans.

Mr Dunne said: "Is there a limit on where Anfield can expand at the moment because as it continues to expand there is going to be more congestion.

"There is a real demand for a rail stations in that area, even though I know it's a difficult issue."

Liverpool are confident their proposed £60million Anfield expansion will be complete by the summer of 2022.

The Premier League leaders are aiming to build on their current framework to take the capacity past the 60,000 mark over the next two-and-a-half years.

The second stage of the Reds' public consultation started on Wednesday with local residents once more invited to share their thoughts on the expanding of the iconic stadium.

Over 800 responses were received from the first round of consultations last year, with more than 90 per cent of those attending in favour of the proposals to stretch the ground's total capacity to 61,000.

A series of drop-in events will now be set up at The Kop Bar as the club aim to gather more information from locals before proceeding with the next steps.

The first of the public drop-in events will be held from midday-8pm on Wednesday before a second takes place between 4pm-8pm on Thursday.
